Kellyanne Conway, a top advisor to President Donald Trump, violated the federal law prohibiting some political activity by high-level officials with her comments in two television interviews about the special election for a Senate seat from Alabama, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel said Tuesday.
That investigatory office said it has sent its report on Conway's actions to Trump for "appropriate disciplinary action."
But the White House quickly disputed the report's findings on Conway's so-called Hatch Act violations.
The report said that in her two TV interviews, "Conway appeared in her official capacity" and in one case "advocated against one Senate candidate and gave an implied endorsement of another candidate."
"In the second interview, she advocated for the defeat of one Senate candidate and the election of another candidate," according to the office, which is a permanent independent federal investigative and prosecutorial agency.
"Both instances constituted prohibited political activity under the Hatch Act and occurred after Conway received significant training on Hatch Act prohibitions," according to the report from the office.
The office is not connected to the office of special counsel Robert Mueller, who was appointed by the Justice Department to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
OSC said it gave Conway the opportunity to respond to the allegations and to its findings, but she did not respond.
White House spokesman Hogan Gidley said in response to the report: "Kellyanne Conway did not advocate for or against the election of any particular candidate. She simply expressed the President's obvious position that he have people in the House and Senate who support his agenda."
"In fact, Kellyanne's statements actually show her intention and desire to comply with the Hatch Act as she twice declined to respond to the host's specific invitation to encourage Alabamans to vote

Exactly!
The Democrat Party needs to be banned. Its leaders at all levels must be arrested. People who have registered as party members should lose their voting rights.
We simply cannot continue to tolerate an anti-American conspiracy to operate in the open while we do nothing. The Storm cannot come soon enough.
Has Hitlery or Obama been indicted for their Hatch Act violations? Of course not.
Trump had better take over this investigative situation.
They know that if they can't get Trump directly, the next best thing is to undermine his foundational support.
They won't stop until there is nobody left as a trusted advisor for Trump to turn to for support.
The strategy is to isolate Trump.

I was Trump, I would tell the investigatory office to frak off till they take ‘appropriate disciplinary action’ against, HillaryIdiot, Comey, Brennan, and a host other frak law breaking idiots......!
Maybe Comey can write a memorandum saying in his opinion Conway had no intent to break the law - how’s that?
This one is really a hoot. Those idiot “investigators” had better go back and do a thorough reading of the Hatch Act.
I remember one instance where Kelly Anne went over the line, but it was in reaction to the other side targeting Trump’s daughter. Kelly Anne simply said something any normal person would say, and the Left jumped on it.
She wasn’t trying to use her position. She was just reacting like any citizen would.
I’d grace her in, in less than a second on that.
Remember this:

Gore Says He Did Nothing Illegal In Soliciting From White House
Hatch Act - illegal for a government employee to “politic” as part of official business.
I agree. This has gone far beyond a simple philosophical or ideological disagreement. It is way past time for conservative patriots to play marbles for keeps . . . they certainly are.
As I recall, the president took sides in that election. So is he guilty of the “Hatch Act”?
She is his communicator. She communicates what the president wants communicated. That’s her job.
I’ve always understood the Hatch Act to prohibit government employees from using salaried time to participate in politics.
However, I can’t see where a political appointee serving the present administration should be bound by the Hatch Act. The appointees’ salaried employees should be, but not someone hired/appointed directly by the President. They work for him, at his leisure, and should be able to support him in their official capacity.
Otherwise you get nonsense like this.
As long as “ridiculous” is not a barrier, go after CNN for conspiracy to commit a crime. CNN set up the line of questioning about an election race. The objective was to facilitate the perpetration of a Hatch Act violation.
‘No controlling legal authority’
heh heh
What about all the RINO/DEM Senators who spoke out against Roy Moore with drooling idiocy? Let’s call that “Hatch Act Violation With Idiocy Rider.”
Exactly what obama did for cousin odinga in Kenya (who lost and followers went on a killing rampage), When he was senator.
I am sure that General Kelly will be able to find his wet noodle with which to flay her. ;-)
