One Of Georgia’s Safest Cities REQUIRES Its Citizens To Own A Gun, But CNN Questions Low Crime
Daily Caller ^ | Mar 8, 2018 | SCOTT MOREFIELD

When it comes to America’s response to gun crime, one Georgia town has been thinking outside the box since 1982, when its leaders passed a law requiring it citizens to own a firearm.

The Kennesaw, Georgia, law states that “every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm,” according to CNN, and was reportedly passed as a deterrent to crime.

“It was meant to be kind of a crime deterrent,” Kennesaw Police Lt. Craig Graydon, a 30-year law enforcement veteran, told CNN. “It was also more or less a political statement because the city of Morton Grove, Illinois, passed a city ordinance banning handguns from their city limits.”

As for would-be criminals looking for an easy mark, judging by the crime statistics it seems most have bypassed the Georgia town and moved on to easier targets. Even CNN was forced to admit that Kennesaw, populated by 33,000 people, has only had “one murder in the last six years and a violent crime rate of below 2%.”

“But,” writes CNN, “it’s unclear whether that has anything to do with the gun law.”

Yeah, right.

CNN just can’t admit it’s on the wrong side of the gun issue. BTW, the next time some Lefty’s in your face about the Second Amendment, ask them if they know why it was passed in the first place. Most of them don’t have a clue. Tell them was to provide a means for enforcement of the Third Amendment. Since 99.9% of them are Snowflakes who haven’t done their homework, it will be crickets from then on.

It’s not full-throated, but it at the least creates an impression of common gun ownership, and actively encourages it.

“this law has never been enforced in Kennesaw.”

Maybe just raising the expectation has deterred crime.

It’s a bit of a nothingburger.

'Even CNN was forced to admit that Kennesaw, populated by 33,000 people, has only had “one murder in the last six years and a violent crime rate of below 2%.” '

You might want to rethink that "nothingburger" conclusion.

It is the uncertainty that a potential victim might be armed that has deterred crime. There are easier targets in the Metro Atlanta area.

Most leftists want a paramilitary state but never wanted to join or experience the military. They always think it is going to be others and not them suffering the barracks inspections and home sharing

I live on a long street, if 1000 bad guys started shooting at the start of my street I dought they would get near me. My neighbors are well armed experienced hunters. Most of my neighbors are vets. Hardly any crime in my neck of the woods. Go figure that!

It’s unclear if CNN has anything to do with journalism.

One Hollywood myth is that of a bunch of Wild West "toughs" terrorizing a town. In fact, in those days, most of the male inhabitants of a town were probably Civil War vets; nearly all would have owned firearms, and all would have known how to use them.

Tell them was to provide a means for enforcement of the Third Amendment.

To the best of my knowledge, there has NEVER been a SCOTUS case involving the quartering of soldiers in a home without consent.

I'd also be shocked if most people knew what IS the Third Amendment.

No! It’s abundantly clear that they are not journalists, but rather propagandists, and poor ones at that!

In your opinion; but I think if I was a Quicky Mart, or 7-11 robber, I would just pick another town.
I think if I was a crook I would rather get away with cash in my pockets rather than lead in my body cavity.

In those days a bunch of criminals trying to terrorize a town would have been shot down in the streets, the survivors of the gang would have been hanged publicly.
The Old West wasn’t nearly as wild as Hollyweird would have us believe.
Yes; the 19th century had their criminal gangs like the Daltons and the (my namesake) James gang, they had their individual killers like Wes Hardin, Henry (Billy the Kid) McCarty, and Clay Allison.
They also had their serial killers, like Otto Hoch, Lydia Sherman, and Boone Helm.
The only difference between then and now, is back then they executed their bad actors by gunfire or rope, and they were forgotten as quickly as possible.
Now we give them time on CBS, NBC, CNN, and all the other alphabet networks, they are glorified by the networks for for ratings.
THE ONLY THING THAT HAS CHANGED IS THE NAMES AND RATINGS.

It’s an effective psychological deterrent.

We have three German Shepherds, two of whom are out of serious working lines, one W German, the other Czech (daddy a retired working K9 from the Czech Republic), They are quite impressive. Shepherd Three is W German showlines.

I socialized the heck out of them in puppyhood. They retain a natural suspicion of strangers, but, up close and personal, they love people.

As stupid as criminals are, they will likely question the wisdom of challenging three German Shepherds.

No would-be criminal knows whether they would bite or not.

The good people of Kennesaw probably talk about guns a lot and make no effort to hide their pro gun stance.

Thus, there is some reason to believe that lazy scum bags would prefer targets less likely to bite back.

Same can be said for the second amendment... just the thought there might be a gun is deterrent enough sometimes.
