Democrat Conor Lamb declares victory in Pa. special election

CANONSBURG, PA — Democrat Conor Lamb declared victory early Wednesday morning in his razor-tight bid for a Pittsburgh-area House special election, although the race hasn't yet been called.

The seat, which voted for President Trump in 2016 by a 20-point margin, was once considered an easy win for Republicans. But Lamb currently leads Republican state Rep. Rick Saccone by 579 ballots, with some absentee ballots outstanding.

"It took a little longer than we thought, but we did it. You did it," Lamb told supporters at his election night party shortly before 1 a.m., after he was introduced as "congressman-elect."

"We followed what I learned in the Marines — leave no one behind. We went everywhere, we talked to everyone, we invited everyone in."

Lamb's campaign apparently believes that Republican Rick Saccone does not have a path to victory in those remaining ballots, leading to the decision to claim victory

Saccone promised earlier in the night to press, with his campaign telling MSNBC shortly after Lamb's remarks that they will not concede at this point. Media outlets have also not yet called the race.

As of 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, Lamb leads by 579 votes, with a few thousand absentee ballots left to count, largely from GOP-leaning areas.

I’m sure he’s desperate to grab victory as fast as possible. So corrupt.

‘This was a massive voter fraud’

ah yes,’the election didn’t turn out the way I thought so there must be voter fraud’ meme makes its first appearance of the day...not to be confused with ‘the poll doesn’t say what I want it to say, so it’s a garbage poll’ bromide...

People need to stop thinking there is such a thing as a moderate democrat.

How many fracking time they have flip flopped on them and these idiots keep coming back for these progs like kicked puppy dogs

What is the problem with Republican and conservative turn outs?

This might be the result of demoralization from Trump and GOP talking gun control by the way

Too many voters vote for the best candidate.

The correct way is to vote for the best policy.

From time to time, that will mean voting for the second best candidate.

Not good at all. All these loses in a areas Trump win big show for some reason Americsns opposes Trumps agenda. Why else would they be voting for the party of Satan?

No big deal! Christie got Elected Governor in NJ but NJ never goes RED in Presidential Elections + Saccone is NO Donald TRUMP!

Voters don't feel anything for that guy + his opponent was basically running as a Conservative

Lamb ran as being partial to President Trump and distanced from Pelosi. Who wants to bet that doesn’t change if he is declared the winner. He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing. If he runs like he did, Trump is a winner regardless of who wins. If he flips to Pelosi, there’s a campaign talking point for all pubbies who face the same tactic.

Aside from Florida 2000 the dems’ record in close races is 100%.They always find enough votes to win. The closeness of the race is surprising, given that the liberal Penn Supremes let democrats redistrict the state just before the election.

show for some reason Americsns opposes Trumps agenda. Why else would they be voting for the party of Satan?

Trump beat (bigly) 17 real, actually existing Republicans.

Whatever you say about "party of Satan", "Demonrats" and all that other crap, there are wide (and growing) areas of the country where the name "Republican" is a dirty word, based on recent and extensive voter experience with the species.

Why, just today, the guy who could not hold his House seat in NH-1 against a Democrat in 2018 (a district Trump won) was appointed to a cushy swamp job on K Street after barely escaping conviction for misappropriating campaign funds.

People here, who voted for Donald Trump, are NOT going to vote for the Saccones of the world, or the Frank Giuntas either, just because they have the (R) label.

Trump has made a huge gamble that he can negotiate the output of the local and state GOP nominating processes onto the Trump train, but he may have made an error.

Most voters hate those who we call the GOPe worse than they hate Conor Lamb-type candidates. If Saccone and Frank Giunta, and Roy Moore, are the best Republican voters can nominate, them the GOP is going down hard, and will wind up taking down the best President we've had since 1924.

It's a shame.

For God's sake, those of you who still are GOP, NOMINATE TRUMPERS OR LOSE. It's that simple.

Only down by 579 ballots?

Absentee should put Saccone over the top!

Trump ask for their vote. They spit in his eye. Trump feeds off of his supporters. When they show unrequited love, what’s to be the effect? Will Trump’s personal drive allow him to push on hard or will he finally realize that the fetid, lazy coprolite’s don’t deserve his time or energy.

Absentees have been counted. My understanding is that all that remains are military votes, and that's only a few dozen so if all of them went for Saccone it wouldn't make a difference.

I read somewhere, might have been on LS’ Twitter feed, that this is a district with a 50,000+ Dem voter advantage?

If it had a 50,000+ Democrat advantage then how come it's been going for Republican candidates by double digits for the past 18 years?

#27: "we know for a fact that the dems have gone “all-in” on the vote-fraud."

And why not? They are never investigated. If they are they scream "racism". They are never, never prosecuted. Voter fraud is all upside for them with no risk.
