Dems accuse Trump officials of seeking State Department purge
The Hill ^ | March 15, 2018 | Max Greenwood

Two top House Democrats allege that high-level political appointees in the State Department and senior White House officials have worked with conservative activists to purge from the agency career officials deemed insufficiently loyal to President Trump.

A letter sent Thursday to White House chief of staff John Kelly and Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan alleges that political appointees at the State Department have characterized career officials in "derogatory terms."

Among the descriptors used for certain career officials were "a leaker and a troublemaker" and a "turncoat," the letter from Reps. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.) reads, citing documents obtained from a whistleblower.

Part of the problem is, OBOZO and his clown posse, CHANGED a lot of the political positions to CIVIL SERVICE positions, so they cannot be fired.

They did this across ALL departments...............

Appointed or Career Federal Officials are all subject to dismissal.

Appointed officials are not as protected as “Career officials”, but they can all be fired with cause. There is no question that seeking to remove the POTUS from office by conspiracy/fraud is sufficient cause.

Too bad we can’t rid the Congress of Engel and Cummings and their ilk. They are the true masters of the purge. When Dems take control, it’s “To the victors go the spoils”..When they lose control it’s “Be fair”....They’ve declared political war on us so this time let’s destroy them and their swamps permanently.

The U.S. Department of State should be dissolved the same way it came into existence, by Executive Order.

Trump is these guys’ boss. He can hire and fire at will or reassign defectives to closets if Civil Service makes them unfireable. Congress has no choice here other than to bray and moan.

Years ago, I scored in the top 2% of the State Department exam and was invited to Foggy Bottom for an interview.

In looking over the resumes of the state department interviewers whom we would be working with, I noticed the following commonalities: a very narrow set of elite university degrees from the same places, past experience, if not concentrated in academia, then in journalism or the peace corps and, as the interview process rolled on, a tendancy to all think alike.

Also, I noticed the following shortages: a near total lack of experience in any real world job like business, or STEM discliplines, very few with military experience and almost no degrees outside of a very narrow field which explained why most of them thought alike.

Not surprisingly, the people whom they chose to hire came out of the same mold. Which way, do you suppose it was, that their politics leaned?

And why not; and why not the same at the DOJ and FBI headquarters offices. A good GOP admin would ask for a two-year waiver of civil services rules on firing federal employees and sack anyone hired by anyone appointed by the Obama administration and/or by the Clinton administration and still around.

“OBOZO and his clown posse, CHANGED a lot of the political positions to CIVIL SERVICE positions, so they cannot be fired.”

I’ve read this before and wondered if that order can be un-ordered, being that it’s an obvious power grab.

interesting, thanks very much....

i’ve hired people who were D’s and R’s and I’s...

and of course worked with many more....

the only kind of people who could not work well with others were the far left commies/nazis/progressives/whatevers

they wouldn’t listen to anyone’s points of view...and they always wanted to dominate and restrict, limit, suppress everyone else... even in the workplace...it was just terrible...

it appears that the same arrogant, aggressive mindset is widespread in the washingtonDC and other leftwing political lairs now, too....

Donald Trump absolutely has to remove the ones that won’t work with or listen to anybody else...they are both impediments, obstacles to any kind of progress at all... and they are dangerous to have in your administration (like especially if they’re in posts that relate directly to outsiders like at the Snake Dept)
