YouTube Removing Gun Videos in 30 days
Full30 Facebook page ^ | 3-19-2018 | Full30

Posted on 03/20/2018 8:53:46 AM PDT by JamesP81

I received an email from my Google/YouTube rep at 9:30pm tonight. He requested an emergency meeting tomorrow to discuss YouTube's new policies regarding firearms content.

This is really bad. Please read this carefully and a couple of times, and let it sink in. 1/3rd of my videos or more will need to be removed. If you don't have them removed in 30 days, your channel will be deleted for policy violations.

I wish this were a joke. It's not. I feel horrible for reloading channels or NFA channels. Showing how to make ammo or even showing the installation of a silencer is prohibited. Hell, showing the use of a magazine larger than 30 rounds is prohibited! Belt feds are a no go.

I'll try to find out as much as I can from my rep tomorrow. I mean, are legal machine guns and silencers being demonstrated really going to get us account strikes now?

Please read this guys... I'm in shock, but then I knew this day wold come. It looks like it's here in 30 days. I'm at a total loss for words. ~Tim

How do you propose to fund the expansion?
-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-
FRee Tube sells advertising, surplus (inevitable with a good product)and could fund Free Republic with donations picking up any short fall.

“Beg-a-thon” huh.

Once it’s up and running, with sufficient traffic to justify advertising fees, maybe. But you have to build it first, you have to attract content creators and viewers in sufficient numbers. Just sayin’ There will have to be money up front and I don’t think Jim has the resources.

But taking your idea; If Jim would allow such a venture to be connected to FR, Investors might be found here on FR, or a GoFundMe campaign could be launched to capitalize a YouTube alternative. Standing alone, I don’t think it would fly, but with Free Republic’s “Blue Sky” capital and enough money it just might work.

Adequate capital$$$,$$$ solves most problems I see with launching the venture but one thing niggles at me: The thing is certain to be attacked and flooded with leftist tripe. Censorship will be practically mandatory. Ironic.

And barring that, we need to use the weapon of government to smash free speech censoring companies to oblivion.

We need to declare them both "common carriers", and also monopolies, and use every force of government to destroy them.

I am completely in favor of this. If the bakeries now have to bake the cake, then youtube has to host the video. Apply the regulatory boot to them the way they have us.

I know of no better way to convince people that government needs to be limited than by making them the target of governmental requirements.

I think the fallout for this purge will be an alternative to Facebook and Youtube and maybe even Google. Lawsuits, such as those by the European Union and maybe FTC and FEC might trim them down a bit. What will the alternative look like? A conservative imitation or a true 1st amendment forum? Plenty of people with the money to start one, maybe there already is one, but so far I haven’t seen anything stir up any excitement. Most are rather lame, to narrow focused

Nothing happens when I got to that site. The screen is just blank.

I get the same using the Pale Moon browser. Firefox seems to work fine on DTube.

I am using Pale Moon. After Mozilla fired Brendan Eich for his support of proposition 8.

I'm also using Windows XP, and I really don't want to "upgrade". I've got other machines with newer operating systems, and I don't like them.

I think my next "upgrade" is going to be Linux.

It’s your choice. Most the the guntubers are whining too. After they get done whining they ask for money. Tired of it. They, and all of us, must move to something other than YouTube. It’s amazing that it took this long for YouTube to rot.

> Gun-related vids on Utube are good for safety and should not be taken down.

They are extremely valuable. But, the takedowns have happened and will continue.

We’re going to have to use multiple other places to host videos. It’s bad to put all the eggs in one basket anyway.

Video producers need to put up their own websites to host links to videos distributed all over the place.

Putting up a website used to be common. Now people are too lazy and want to use FB, YT and Twitter, while knowing those places can’t possibly be trusted.

> Full auto goes on your own website. People interested will click thru.

That’s right. I am unimpressed with the hypocritical whining from some of the guntubers. Better people will replace them in the new, more distributed scenario apart from leftist youtube. YT has hassled a lot more than guntubers lately. To hell with them.

This is an opportunity for the NRA to service its members. If it is member only it could be used as a tool for recruitment of members. If not requiring membership it would be a great service to the firearm community. The firearm videos have been so useful.

This isn’t about keeping content available for our convenience. We have an entire generation of young people who got into shooting sports because of YT videos and Call of Duty.

People are not taking this seriously enough. They’re going to silence our voice and in two generations, the 2A will die with a whimper because there will be no one left that cares. Sitting around like old grumps and shouting at clouds about kids and their damned YouTube will accomplish nothing. Hate on social media if you like, it is a scourge on the land, but it’s one that isn’t going anywhere that we’d better learn to live with and use for our purposes.

Pulling all firearms content into its own niche plays into the enemy’s hands.

Just ran across this site as a substitute for youtube when it comes to gun videos ..... (nice looking site):

https://www.full30.com/

“Full30 is dedicated to providing shooting enthusiasts with quality content and a friendly community. Join us and explore Sport Shooting, Self-Defense, and Gun Reviews.”

They posted this on their FB page 3/21/18:
After the news about YouTube’s new firearm policies breaking today we have been flooded by requests from hundreds of firearm channels that want to join Full30 ASAP.

Please accept our apology if we haven’t responded to your request. We are actively working to improve the infrastructure of Full30 to handle thousands more channels, but this process takes time, research, and significant funding.

We are working as quickly as possible to open up Full30 to all firearm, hunting, and outdoors creators, and we will keep you up to date on the progress. As soon as the site upgrades are complete we will begin reaching out with invites to as many creators as possible, and especially those who get shutdown by YouTube when their new policies take effect in 29 days. We should have a clearer timeline to share in the coming weeks.

From the 3-man team at Full30, thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to bring you the mobile app, more site features, and a better overall viewing experience in 2018
