White House staffers on edge as Trump eyes another shake-up

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is tired of being told “no.”

Six weeks of staff churn and pronouncement shocks reflect a president who has grown increasingly confident on the job and more trusting of his instincts. After 14 months in the Oval Office, Trump is more comfortable bucking the advice of White House staffers and congressional Republicans, and that is increasingly putting even his allies on edge.

Trump may have an even more dramatic shake-up in mind for his administration.

The president has floated to outside advisers a plan to do away with the traditional West Wing power structure, including the formal chief of staff role, to create the more free-wheeling atmosphere he relished while running his business and later his presidential campaign at Trump Tower.

The sense of apprehension is palpable in the West Wing, where tempers are running short and uneasy aides discuss their future employment prospects behind closed doors, according to six White House officials and several outside advisers. They all spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the internal dynamics.

Are you saying if he vetoed today, the congress critter would have given him everything he wanted? Did you bother to count the vote to pass the spending bill was a massive landslide?

All this confirms is that the DC swamp is bigger than you thought. Trump has not YET assumed dictatorship. Bills originate in congress and must pass both houses. Trump can not unilaterally pass any bill. May be you forgot all this from your civics course.

There is less than 10% support for Trump agenda in congress. It matters little whom Trump trusts. I guess the military budget was paramount and everything else was sold off.

You have a very interesting idea.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the USA were nothing more than a Republic of independent sovereign states that have their own rights and legislative powers that are only bonded together by a Constitution where the federal government has limited powers?

Sounds like a novel idea.

Oh wait a minute, that’s already been tried and it didn’t work.

“Think you are mistaken about running out in 6 months. Think David Brat said not.

Any Freeper know for sure?”

I just looked it up and this budget expires September 30, 2018. In truth, it’s more than a year late, having been avoided with a series of “continuing resolutions.” As bad as parts of it are, the good in it, which may save our pink a$$es from being outgunned by the Chinese, thanks to the new military spending level. Personally, I think Trump had to swallow real hard on this one! Think about the fact that a big chunk of our Air Force and brown shoe Navy is grounded for lack of parts! And our f*cking sailors can’t sail without hitting something. Obola let the whole thing go to $hit and got rid of the flag leadership that actually knew how to run the military and replaced them with the “addadicktome” crowd. It’s way more important than a border wall in the short term and some seed money for a f*cking tunnel for that creep Schumer.

Good perspective. I’m with you. Flush out the naysayers and their stances before the big game. The msm including fox is not stating the short term nature of this latest bill.

Stop being silly, AG Sessions is the most loyal and productive member of the cabinet, the fact that you don’t know about it just proves it. Competent people do not broadcast their intentions ahead of time, they just prepare, and then act.

Radio Havana today said that with Bolton, Trump is clearly assembly a War Cabinet. Sun Tzu however is not available.

Considering how often I’ve been told that Trump is done for now, I’ll wait and see

Really? Because he signed a turd bill that would have been overridden anyway and been even worse optics for him? Come on, man, Congress makes law, not the President. It was a turd and he did the best he could do.

"Because he signed a turd bill that would have been overridden anyway"

The Senate passed the bill by 65 votes; that's not enough for 2/3s needed to override a veto.

These people think the President is omnipotent.

We need more Trump supporters in Congress and to get rid or Ryan.

Because a number of the Senators were given cover by the President not signing.

It may be that Ryan and McConnell told Trump that if he vetoed the bill, a few “on-the-bubble” votes would switch and override the veto. I’m sure they told him how much of a defeat that would be.

If true, then the Republicans truly have become political enemies with the conservative base.

He’s not done by any means.. he did not like today.. he did not like what he did due to the establishment telling him “this is the way it is”.. and he does not like to lose... and he will make this up somehow.. he won’t stay in a state of looking like he is defeated... he won’t let ryan and mcconnell have it their way but for a day .. and he’ll be on the warpath again, stronger than ever.

These things that look like they defeat us, only make us stronger. He is no quitter and he’s no loser... what he did today will stick with him for a while and he will do something that will make it up to all of us. He will NOT let it rest as it is and chalk it up... that is not the Donald!!

He is already going over in his mind, what he can do to erase the stronghold the establishment has over everything, to cause him to have to sign that bill today.. and if he didn’t sign it, they’d still would have won that fiasco.. He didn’t make his millions making bad judgments or giving in to the bad dudes who get in his way.
