Forget about the doctrine of ‘infallibility’ - this is the leader of the Roman Catholic church!!! If he makes a statement so blatantly false and blasphemous (he’s calling God a liar) how can the faithful Catholic tolerate this? I was around when Vatican II changed the mass to the vernacular of the people and the exodus that followed. Many Catholics found churches where the Bible was preached and taught. I’ll be surprised if this does not happen again. Francis is the best argument against Catholic dogma today.

Not that I ever want to be caught defending Bergoglio, but the Vatican, however credible, is denying this.

From the Newsweek article:

“Shortly after the article was published, the Vatican issued a statement that claimed the article was ‘not a faithful transcript’ and that the meeting between Pope Francis and Scalfari was a private meeting and not a formal interview.

"’What is reported by the author in today’s article is the result of his reconstruction, in which the literal words pronounced by the Pope are not quoted. No quotation of the aforementioned article must therefore be considered as a faithful transcription of the words of the Holy Father,’ the Vatican said in a statement translated by the Catholic News Agency.

“The Catholic New Agency also pointed out that, after a controversial 2013 article, Scalfari admitted that some words attributed to the pontiff ‘were not shared by Pope Francis’ himself.”

It’s horribly sad that this headline is more believable than not.

He’s going to end up in the 9th circle, regardless of his professed denials.

Hard to believe this is true. Is Newsweek reliable?

If this is true then, well, let’s just say it won’t be long now.

So I guess Jesus was wrong. He talked about hell more than anyone else in the Bible. This so-called pope is not a Christian, he is a humanist.

The Pope cannot change the Church

That’s why Catholics are not freaked out by this Pope. The bishops don’t get together and vote this out of the tenets. Even if they did it would be them over riding the teaching of Jesus, therefore invalid

1034 of the Catechism says:

The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell, where they suffer the punishments of hell, “eternal fire.”615 The chief punishment of hell is eternal separation from God, in whom alone man can possess the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs.

“615” refers to the biblical reference from which the Catechism takes it

Matthew 25:41

41 “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;

“if there’s no hell, where did Satan go?”

He’s not in hell.

“Your adversary [the] devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

“you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient” Ephesians 2:2

Actually he was cast to earth. There may not be a hell right now, but scripture is clear there will be.

“the Vatican, however credible, is denying this.”

When Francis says stuff like this the Vatican PR-damage control invariably come up with a “what he really meant to say was...”.
