It’s time to expel Turkey from NATO.

I was at Incirlik myself. I never thought the Turks were our friends, and I figured that sooner or later, they would be our enemies. I always felt they should never have been in NATO in the first place.

Note to homeowners: if you buy a gun safe that the bad guys can't open, they'll just pick it up and transport it. Even if it's a really big safe.

Good luck with that! My gun safe is in the basement and it is weighed down with extra lead inside (both spare ammo stored there for the weight and plain lead). They will have to get the thing open to bring it up stairs, since the steps would not support the weight, even if they had enough people to move it. As for opening it, I built a wall around it, so they will have to take the wall down to get at anything but the door. There is nothing in there worth the effort it would take.

Should have been done a year or more ago.

Turkey has been going more and more Islamist for several years.

Leaving nuclear weapons where they can take them was incredibly irresponsible by President Obama.

The United States has transported the Armag weapons vault......

What caught my eye was the terminology used for the weapons vault “ARMAG” I wonder how would you abbreviate Armageddon? I wonder what interesting devices were inside this vault. I believe some one read the proverbial handwriting on the wall.

According to a quick look-see on Google Earth, by February, 2018, there were only a couple of A-10s and a few F-15s & F-16s left.. even the C-130s were gone.

Drones & tankers — that’s about it...

Glad they got the weps out. I really thought they would have started doing that back when the base was cut off on the ground a couple of years ago...

I don't know about that My brother had a pretty good sized one and when we put it in place we bolted it down with 5/8 inch bolts. But if someone really wants something and has the time they'll get it. I watched a vid of someone using a angle grinder and metal cutting wheel just cut the side of the safe open making all the locking bolts pointless.

I looked it up to figger out exactly what an Armag weapons vault is. Basically, it's a hand weapon storage room. The one in your reference that was loaded on the C-5 aircraft was roughly the size of a semi trailer. Below is a link to the manufacturer's website that has a couple of videos about the system.

https://www.armagcorp.com/products/weapons-storage/arms-weapons-storage/ I'm guessing that the Armag was solely used by the USAF facility security unit. IIRC Incerik is actually a Turkish AF base with base security by the Turks. Without a robust USAF security capability on base, I can't imagine we would have much if any presence there any longer.

Per local media. Maybe my translation sucks, but the explanation makes no sense. Looks like someone's got his knickers in a knot, though....

They were selling gun safes at a hardware store near here that were room sized, maybe 12x12, and were meant to build around. So the perps would have to take out at least one wall of the house to get it out, in addition to the roof. That and the crane might attract some attention.

You are correct - an Armag vault is for small arms. Two years ago my company had a contract to completely remodel an existing building on a U.S. base that contained among other things a small arms armory. Part of our contract was to prep an area for the installation of the same size Armag vault and to assist in its installation for their use while we were remodeling the rest of the bldg.

Michael "Turkey remains a NATO ally close. Continues to play an important role for Turkey's air base at Incirlik NATO and the coalition.

We will soon see how "important" Turkey really is to Russia and Iran. Imagine what that would be like dealing with. But then again, Turkey is impossible to rely on for anything.

We shall see. No telling what “agreement” Turkey, Iran, Russia and Assad made today.

I have a friend who is a pilot and served at Incirlik. It was not a good duty station. Nobody liked being there.

Agree.

My friends in Syria know the Russians. Long ago we discussed Putin playing with Erdogan. Putin has an objective, establishing Erdogan as Sultan is not one of them.

They told me that Putin will not forget the planes shot down and the pilots killed.

I trust that they are right about that.

“It’s time to expel Turkey from NATO.”

It’s also time to expel Turkey from the island of Cyprus, the Bosphorous Strait, and the Dardanelles.
