SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The leaders of Israel, Greece and Cyprus on Wednesday discussed a proposed joint project for a natural gas pipeline to western Europe. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades.

The proposed pipeline would run from Israel to Cyprus and on to Greece. The three also discussed a new date for a summit, possibly in May. This was recently postponed amid regional tensions. Turkey is at odds with Israel over Gaza and Cyprus over offshore drilling.

The relations between Israel and Greece and Cyprus have been growing closer in the past few years, especially in security and energy fields, although some of the cooperation among them has been kept quiet due to the political tensions in the region.

Here is a possible competing approach to bring oil and gas to the EU.

This is a lot less threatening for Israel and EU than that envisioned by the Turkey, Iran and Russia Cabal.

This is hopeful, especially seeing as how Greece and Cyprus have close links with Russia and Greece in particular holds some bitternesses toward E.U...

So hopefully there is a way they can pursue their countries’ best interests while also counterbalancing an oil-transfer geopolitical order led and determined by Russia.

Yes. You touch on some things I missed.

But never trust Russia on anything. They always act in their own interests.

Nations should act in their own interests, that’s a lesson that seems to be lost on most of our politicians.

This will infuriate Turkey. Turkey despises Greece over Cyprus. They’ve treated Greeks about as well as they treated Armenians, invasions, massacres, Forbidden native language and destroyed whatever education system cypriots tried to implement — much like the British did to the Irish.

Now a pipeline bypassing Turkey will cut into the power and influence in the middle east while also ensuring a strongly defended Cyprus.

Yeah, Just think, the Eurotrash will have to bite their lip and knock off the Raging Antisemitism, and pretend to stop cuddling the Pali terrorists, hoping the Israelis have short memories.

Likewise, Greece can evaluate the EuroBanksters IMF "Austerity" demands before setting the Transit Fee for not making European Elites freeze their butts off in the coming winters.

I kinda like this shoe-on-the-other-foot business.

Never confuse short term interests with long term interests.

Decisions should never be made solely upon the numbers.

Turkey, Jordan and the Saudis don’t like this, and maybe this is why Turkey has lately been probing Greek air space with Turkish military jets and drones (signally a warning to Greece?).

This will cause a war.

It could financially ruin Russia and Turkey will hate it. The Russians cannot allow anyone else to establish a pipeline to Europe - it diminishes their power across the board. This is one of the reasons that the Russians are in Syria.

Greece a collective welfare bum leeching off the rest of Europe. When PM Tsipras said that Europe should keep throwing money at them, rather than institute some austerity measures, because Germany “owes” Greece for WW2, I really lost patience with their nonsense. Israel should think carefully about how such a dysfunctional partner should be involved with this.

Greece (is) a collective welfare bum leeching off the rest of Europe.

Sad, but true, Greece's experiment with Communism infected their once learned and courageous culture with more than enough Socialist "ideals" to make them the bums of Europe.

... I really lost patience with their nonsense.

As did I, so I snarked my comment to see if anybody was reading.

Israel should think carefully about how such a dysfunctional partner should be involved with this.

Israel should think carefully about all of Western Europe, not just Greece.

They have only Western European Globalist Bankster Interests in mind, none of Israel's, and are only looking for a cut rate gas supply to mark up and loot their own citizens' pocketbooks.

Israel should make 'em pay more than if they bought from Russia, as they will knife Israel in the back at the first opportunity if they get their hands on Qatari gas.

...Turkey has lately been probing Greek air space with Turkish military jets and drones (signally a warning to Greece?).

Turkey has been unlawfully violating Greek Soverignty on a daily basis by land, sea and air for more than half a Century, now.

There may be a slight increase of late, but it is nowhere near new activity.

The Turks have always been threatening and intimidating Greece.

Yes, you are right, Turkey violating Greek sovereign space os not new, but yes I am right, there HAS been an uptick in that activity of late.

I suppose a gas pipeline with Iranian and Qatari gas through Syria would be a powerful competitor to this project?
