People living in a Lexington neighborhood were notified last week that several dog breeds, including pit bulls, Great Danes and huskies, were being banned. Homeowners in McConnells Trace were sent letters by the neighborhood developer detailing a change in an existing dog restriction, which previously referred only to unspecified aggressive breeds, said Josh McCurn, president of the areas neighborhood association. Now German shepherds, St. Bernards and chows are among the list of 11 dog breeds restricted from the neighborhood. McConnells Trace sits across Leestown Road from Masterson Station Park.
McCurn said the homeowners association did not have a vote on the restrictions and did not write the language.

Well, I was a sucker, and clicked on it.
All sorts of things can happen with dogs. A particular instance doesn’t prove anything; lots of incidents may. I’ve heard of many pit bull attacks; yours is the only St. Bernard.
Okay.

A 1997 study of dog bite fatalities in the years 1979 through 1996 revealed that the following breeds had killed one or more persons: pit bulls, Rottweilers, German shepherds, huskies, Alaskan malamutes, Doberman pinschers, chows, Great Danes, St. Bernards and Akitas.

Here is a blog that gathers and posts news reports of pit bull attacks every day, and often 3-4x per day. The human deaths are often posted here first, but several times a day will share the small animals and livestock mauled, killed, and mutilated (pits killing horses, mules, llamas) and the mauling attacks which occur to humans with such dreadful daily regularity.
At #10 is the gigantic St Bernard. With only 7 fatalities in this study, its not surprising as St Bernards were original bred as rescue dogs. Adult males can measure about 30 inches tall (75 cm) and weigh a whopping 155 pounds (75 kgs), they have a very passive temperament and are mostly a danger due to their massive size as adults.
The Great Danes are the 9th most dangerous breed according to the study. With a total of 7 fatalities in the periods in between 1979-1998, the Great Dane or German Mastiff is known to be one of the largest breeds of dogs ever domesticated. Although they have a low prey drive (carnivorous animals feeding instinct), they were initially bred for hunting animals. Their immense size (with some adults measuring up to at least 30 inches (76 cm)) makes them an obvious threat around children and even adults.

“has just gone overboard while including a dog breed of a despised neighbor.”
^ yeah this ^
I have been a Dane owner for years. My current one is 39” and 175 pounds. They are the sweetest dogs. They can be dangerous because of their size but are extremely docile. You would really have to severely mistreat one to get it mean.
“Chihuahuas are the most aggressive dogs ever.”

Re the statistics above:
They are missing the years 1998 to present. The reason for this is that the CDC quit keeping the stats on dog bites by breed since then. Here is a source for 1982-2014:

Thank you.
I never heard that before i met my late mother-in-law. We miss her a lot.
Pass the lutefisk please. X)

As opposed to a GSH (German Shepherd Human):
I know. It's getting late where I am.
I got a call once that my Labrachow was out and was, along with a neighbor’s German Shepherd-Afghan mix, being chased down the street by yet another neighbor’s Chihuahua.
An official anti-guard dog ban is about as useful as a sign notifying thieves that it’s a gun free zone.
Yes, really late.

I have never heard of a Golden that was anywhere near vicious.
I have two currently and had one before these, nothing but sweet.
I used to be a service technician going to people’s houses, never met a bad Golden.
The only dog that ever bit me was a Boxer.

I wanted an umbrella policy with USAA, but they refused because we have an Akita. About two years ago, they emailed me saying that Akitas were OK now, but I told them I wouldn’t need any of their services that I didn’t already have, and they could stop contacting me about anything not related to present policies and to cancel my credit card. They actually had the balls to call me twice about that decision.
