Rather than firing Rosenstein, Sessions could just limit Mueller to what is called for under the law for special prosecutors and what he needed to recuse himself from: investigating crimes associated with the campaign. All else he could tell Mueller that he, Sessions, will take responsibility for. If, then, Mueller cannot specify an actual crime that he is pursuing, then his investigation comes to a halt.

Trump doesn’t need a deputy AG. If he fires Rosenstein and Mueller, that leaves recused Sessions in place who can’t get involved.
So, it’s over except for a possible impeachment that is not certain in this house. They know the dirty tricks that have been played on Trump.

I guess the only other strategy is scorched earth. Keep firing people in the government agencies until you can get one person that you can work with. The trouble is that I would imagine that you would get down to the burrowed in non-political appointees that have civil service protections. But, then you might be able to remove by demotion or re-assignment.
However, even if you couldn’t really get anyone effective and you created chaos and weakened these agencies (other than military and border control), would that be so bad in the end? If the ATF, DEA, FBI, DOJ, IRS, EPA, State and on and on could not function well, so what? That would be a Cloward and Piven attack on the federal government. Those areas and people that actually do perform would be rewarded. That would demoralize the bad and Leftist government employees and that’s fine with me.
They, whoever “ they” are, should make a Susan Collins bobble head doll.

Note to stupid Susan Collins: It is not now, if it ever was, a “Russian probe” that Rosenstein gave to his buddy Mueller. It was a “fishing license” for where ever Mueller wanted to go fishing. Second note to Collins: If it did happen that Rosenstein was fired, Trump and Sessions, without Senate approval, can keep appointing “acting” persons in the position, for as long as it takes. And should any time run out on such persons, Sessions can legally designate the work to others.
VP Pence is the President of the Senate. He can adjourn the Senate at any time. No order or business can prevent that, according Senate Rules.
Charging HilRod with at least one of her many serious crimes is the only way the attacks on Trump stop. Go on the offensive Mr. President.
