Some of you people sound frighteningly like the left. “You must say only what I approve of or you MUST not say anything at all!” “But... but... but that’s not DECENT!” some of you will hyper-ventilate. Well, too bad. We don’t HAVE to be “decent” according to YOUR definition of “decent.” This is a public opinion forum and people are here to express their opinions - NOT to be shut down because of some self-righteous control freaks.
I'm not sure yet what that something is, but it says something that this thread has had unusually many deleted posts. Maybe some of them truly were from trolls, but many of them were probably from people who consider themselves "decent" and "truthful."
If any of you readers express your opinions poorly (and if you object to my choice of wording, I have to be truthful), expect your post to be deleted.
This forum was never some nearly untrammeled "free speech zone"; don't expect to promote leftism here, for example, without suffering the consequences. And if we rightly question the tone of the usual friendly leftists, we should probably avoid sounding like them.

A site like this is made up of many different types of people. Frequently posts show up containing sentiments or language that some people just don’t want to be associated with.
So they have a choice: leave FR in a huff, which is throwing out the baby with the bathwater; or forcefully object to what they find unacceptable, and disassociate themselves in that way.
It’s just how fora like this operate.

I don’t have any problems at all with people voicing their objections. It’s the DON’T POST THAT edicts that I’m seeing that rub me the wrong way (and, by the way, these haven’t been directed at me [well, YET] - but I’m seeing it more and more directed at other posters). In other words, it’s a little worrisome to see some members of the far right start to sound just like members of the far left - with the attitude that we can’t say anything some disapproves of because they disapprove of it.

And, while we at it, just what constitutes “psychotic rant” in your opinion? Anything negative said against the Bush family? What if Bill or Hillary died? Would we be obliged to say “Oh! Rest in peace, O wonderful one!” TOO ... or do you, too, draw the line somewhere?
For the record, I didn’t say SQUAT about Barbara Bush on this (or any other) thread. I merely talked about the silly, over the top coverage on TV this morning and the way certain people on this board are reacting to it by attempting to control the narrative.

I’m not sure what “narrative” you’re obsessing with - Barbara Bush has passed away.
If you don’t like that narrative then your complaint is with reality - something with which you seem to be struggling, what with the bizarre tirades about Bill & Hillary and such in a thread about BB’s passing.

Mine is not a political objection, but a principled one...a fundamental clash of ethics and morality.
The Bushes are the tip of the spear aimed at "who we are." Much like the Pharaohs of the past, they deem themselves worthy to decide for what purposes my life will be spent.
As the Pharaohs of old sentenced others to slave away building monuments to their greatness, so the Bushes and their ilk will build their towers in tribute to their vision of what I must be forced to serve...multicultural, open border brick by brick.
I do not weep for those who seek to enslave me.
I just wish that Mrs. Bush had NOT been pro “Choice”, which really means pro Abortion.

Well, I might not have put it quite that way, but you’re not wrong - and I cannot state that I like them in any way at all, not after having observed 2 Bush Presidencies and other things. If you want to object to their purpose with G-d, well, He knows already. If you want to register your displeasure with the Bushes for political reason, again fine...but use your noggin, man! Doing it in this way at this time will not sway those who love the Bushes; you already have the sympathies of those who dislike them; what you SHOULD do is try like Hell to sway those in the middle. If they see someone not terribly different than that idiot Pali professor on Twitter, they’re going to dismiss and condemn you and your point of view in the same way that she is being dismissed and condemned.
Again, use your noggin. There’s a time and a place for everything...this one week is not the time to be doing anything other than: a) extending condolences; or b) being quiet if you cannot bring yourself to do a). That is all that I have said; I’m certainly not trying to persuade you to love the Bushes.
Well, the various posters here can deliver whatever edicts they like; but they can’t censor you. And in my observation, you have to be pretty vulgar for the Mods or Mr. Robinson to get on your case.
