I’m at a loss as to how this is a “racist” comment. Racially insensitive, maybe, but not racist.
The textbook definition of racism is “the belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.”
Slaves, black or otherwise, were often used to pick cotton in America’s early years, but picking cotton was not exclusively the realm of slave labor.
How is this racist?
Blacks haven’t picked cotton in 100 years, many haven’t worked in the last 40 years.

My mother and her brothers and sisters helped their uncle pick cotton back in the 50’s, when they were kids.
For some reason, leftists are stupid enough to think that only black people picked cotton.

Leftists don’t understand how their own set of values makes them in general far more racist than any set of conservatives.
Their attitude towards affirmative action is a good example. They fail to see the corrosive effect that has on the people they claim to want to help.
My mom was one. Half the white people in cotton country who were alive in the 1930s and 1940s picked cotton.
Cotton picking has not the slightest racial intent. I will keep saying it.
