Always was and will continue, until the waiting coffin, a real jackass and pure Democrat using the R to get elected. He is a mentally ill fool.

"And I would do it again," McCain says. "Anyone who doesn't like it can go to hell." Well, maybe John. But you're going there first, that's for sure.

If he resigns before the end of May, the governor appoints a successor for the rest of his term. If he resigns after that, then the seat is open and placed on the November ballot.
McCain apparently is trying to control who would be appointed if he resigns before May
Thank you for the explanation. I was wondering about this also: Next question: Is there any indication who might be appointed to the seat if McCain passes before the end of May?

“Well he is not as bad as some of the more radical democrats but still not on the plus side.
Maybe a minus 3.”
Unfortunately, whatever good he did in his life was completely wiped out by the dossier stunt and killing the attempt to repeal Obamacare.

I think you have it slightly wrong. So the speculation is already underway about what would happen if McCain stepped down or, worse, could no longer serve. The Washington Post reported Tuesday that a list of possible successors is circulating in the whispering Republican class, headlined by McCains wife, Cindy McCain, and former US Sen. Jon Kyl.
If McCain leaves office before May 30, the Post indicated, his Senate seat will be on the ballot in Arizona in November 2018, as will that of his retiring junior colleague, Republican Sen. Jeff Flake. After May 30, the new senator who would be appointed by Republican Gov. Doug Ducey would serve through 2020.
If he wants his wife to have the seat, he has to make it to June 1

Let’s have a “Proof of Life” photo. Him, out of bed and walking around.
If he is unconscious in a bed somewhere then he needs to be fired.
