And a more "common denominator" than mere party affiliation, is being conservative.

Facts in our past can be is a hard to swallow but to claim otherwise only distorts history and makes one look ignorant.

During much of the pre-Reaganite era, the Republican Party was, well irrelevant to power. Especially in the South of which I was speaking to and have only spoken to despite the intentional contortions of or ignorance of other Freepers on this subject.

This left the Democratic Party fighting among it's two factions Northern Democrats, who were liberal with a number of Union and Civil rights pushing their agendas.

And Southern Democrats,(The Solid South, Dixiecrats, etc) who were conservative in their outlooks and who were the defenders of Jim Crow. The Southern people, of whom I am born and bred, are a conservative people by nature. Without their influence, Conservatism in the United States would be a mere distraction to the liberal powers that be, much like the little weird European parties that have no chance to gain real political power due to their issues that make comparison to Conservatism here difficult.

After losing their Jim Crow fight, being strongly anti-communist and having damned little common with Northern liberals and unionism, they dropped their defense of Jim Crowe, jumped parties and became a power within the Republican Party.

This is a simplistic explanation but everything is true.

It is embarrassing to have to explain this to people who should already know the history of their country but, given the state of education, it is a sad fact.

Absurd! Conservatives aren't running around beating Hillary supporters, chasing them down in the streets, pointing them out in restaurants and ridiculing and threatening them.

Your classification fails.

My daughter did a DNA test the other day and it came back and told her that she was 12% Scandinavian. I told her it was full of sheet, because that basically means that one of her great grandparents was Scandinavian, and having done the family genealogy going back 500 years, there never has been. Furthermore, it said she was only 24% German, which is also sheet, because I am significantly over 50% German.

Have read stories that a lot of what they put in the "results" is BS. They game the system so that everyone has at least 1% African origin, and if coming from the US, American Indian as well … this is so that if they convince people that they are part black or part indian, they will not be so racist … nothing to do with ancestry, it is pure SJW evil. I am sure if they could figure out a way to do it, they would tell us a certain percent of our ancestors were gay.

Sure would be funny if they would claim that your family was 100% homosexual going back three generations solid!
