"I know some have strong feelings about gun rights," Acevedo said, "but I want you to know I've hit rock bottom and I am not interested in your views as it pertains to this issue."

And why would you possibly think that I would be interested in YOUR views...turd?
KMA.
There are two issues which I decided long ago were so certain that I closed my mind on any arguments for them.
One is abortion and the other is gun control.
People who push either are foolish, or ignorant or evil. Often all three.
I don’t know who this jackass is but I suspect people who do know him are not surprised by his words.
Then taxpayers should stop funding the bastard
He needs to be removed from office.
Any law enforcement officer that does not understand, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”, should not be in law enforcement.
Back at you you Hate America jackass!
MOLON LABE!
I'm ready any time you are, Acevedo.
I’m sorry... Since he’s hired by the city, and not the people, he doesn’t give a flying rip what our opinions might be on the matter, it is only what they think that matters.
There’s certainly a way to address this; start printing up recall petitions for the city council. Which is probably a good idea anyway, since they’re likely 5 times as liberal as the police chief.
Though I’d love to hear a reporter ‘what other natural rights that the constitution proscribes any interference with do you advocate being limited?’
Hey Chief, I dont care what your views are. You get paid to enforce the law, not make the law.
Just to triple check - a person who was forbidden from possessing firearms who violated the law about bringing guns on campus and then further violated the law in killing people is somehow going to be affected by universal background checks (wouldn’t affect anything), banning assault weapons (pistol and shotgun used, wouldn’t affect anything) and mandatory registration (still wouldn’t affect anything...)
I think you missed banning the printing of guns on 3d printers and forbidding bump stocks as well as ‘ghost guns’, parts that could be manufactured to complete a weapon...
Those laws surely would have..done nothing to prevent this horrible action.
My Uncle, if He were still with Us would have BITCHSLAPPED this POS.
He started walking a Beat Downtown and worked His way up to Chief over the years.
By the Book, no grey, no BS, respected Everyone’s Rights, Ran a tight ship His entire Life.
He’s a police Chief, not a legislator.
Funny, Chief - I feel the same way. And I don't give a d@mn what your "feelings" are. KMA
I’m not interested in your views as it pertains to this issue either.
We’re keeping our guns.
I’m not interested in Acevedo’s opinions about anything. Who died and made him dictator? To hell with him and the horse he rode in on.
Some of his constituents need to tell him that his job is to enforce the law, not make the law or interpret the constitution.
IF we had an Attorney General, Alcevedo might be subject to federal civil rights laws forbidding his using his office to interpet the law/deny citizens their constitutional rights. But, of course, Jeff still sleeps...
If this ignoramus can explain how the current list of laws on the books designed to stop these types of shootings have stopped them, I’d be willing to listen.
Otherwise, what’s the point of creating new laws the law breakers won’t listen to?
These folks haven’t got a lobe left to think with evidently.
Have convenience store robberies been curtailed? There are many laws designed to stop them.
Have spousal murders been stopped, even though restraining orders and other laws have been designed to stop them?
Have drive by shootings been stopped?
Have work place shootings been stopped?
Have school shootings been stopped?
What good are new laws, if the tens of thousands of current gun laws and long background checks can’t stop these illegal acts?
All we are doing is preventing good people from being able to defend themselves. No guns allowed on campus, so now we have nothing more than sitting ducks in mass.
Concealed carry permits in some places like Los Angeles are essentially impossible to obtain, unless you’re in law enforcement. Has this stopped all gun crimes? NO!
All we are doing is creating passive groups of victims.
When seconds count, the police are minutes away.
When seconds count, legislators are months away from another nonsensical gun bill.
When seconds count, the anti gun sheriff of Los Angeles County will never show up to protect you or anyone else.
His driver will deliver him just in time to jump in front of cameras, and deny the rights of the next victims, namely refuse to let them defend themselves.
When it comes to the next evil gun crime, the Los Angeles County Sheriff is nothing more than an enabler of the next shooter.
I won't go into the list of all the people and places we protect with armed guards. But isn't it crazy we don't act as if "Children are the world's most valuable resource and its best hope for the future."
Austin hired him from California.
See how they move Texas and try to make it like California.
The article claims 101 mass shooting this year. How many of these were gang related?
