But being educated in biochemistry can’t tell you definitively this is totally safe. It is a small molecule, there is no telling what active sites in the complex human machine it might bind to or what it might do in much larger active sites with a variety of characteristics, any small part of which this might grab onto and interfere with.

Note those who are exposed to a lot do show an increase in lymphoma.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24762670

Correlation might not be causation, but it also doesn’t mean Monsanto doesn’t have some work showing something bad.

Personally, I would steer clear of Roundup unless I absolutely needed it.

It is far easier to pay politicians to protect them...

He is not saying you need ESPS. he’s saying if you kill its activity, you will kill some microbes in the gut and others, maybe not so healthy will fill the void.

Again, nobody really knows what the effects are here, and when big agra is involved, it is difficult to get a feel for the truth because they exert very close control over the dialog.

“We must STOP spraying and using poisons”

Yeah we tried that with DDT, and since they stopped spraying there has been a sharp increase in mosquito and tick borne diseases such as Eastern Equine Encephalitis, Lyme Disease, and others.

“If you had any proof that Glyphosate was damaging our food supply, animal health or human health you’d provide it. But there isn’t any so you can’t. “

YOU CAN’T PROVE IT WILL NEVER DAMAGE health because it is a manmade that has only existed for a SHORT period on this planet. We CAN’T study every possible effect and provide concrete evidence because the human body and biosphere is too complex and there are too many mixtures of manmade involved to even begin studying the possible infinite effects of all of them together. All the products of decay mixing with other products of decay throughout various levels of temperature, pressure, solar radiation, etc in the entire biosphere. Being consumed and spread throughout the foodwebs in infinite various ways. IMPOSSIBLE to predict what will happen over many years.

Good practice and common sense is to not spray vast fields with chemicals that never previously existed on the planet. It is common sense and the best way to ensure safety because we simply DONT KNOW what will happen down the road.

Such mass spraying is NOT NECESSARY except for corporate profits. Every single issue you encounter on the farm can be solved with natural methods.

Simple common sense says we should avoid mass spraying of ALL MANMADES and not wait until we “prove there is a problem”. By then, everything will be poisoned and there will be no way to rid ourselves of all the manmades in everything.

We simply need to encourage predators of mosquitos and ticks. There is no need to poison entire forests and lakes. All that does is kill the predators and leaves us more dependent on chemicals. Eventually the insects adapt and more chemicals are always needed.

I’ve seen it done effectively in farms in the Caribbean and South America. You can be surrounded by jungles but there are practically no mosquitoes.

Absolutely no need for mass poisons if you apply the right knowledge.

8 people at different times decided to commit suicide by drinking RU - not the stuff in stores (at 2-3%) but the commercial grade which is around 41% glyphosate. Of the eight, 1 died; the other 6 had upset stomachs.

Stocking up means getting someone with a commercial spray license to buy a barrel (40 gal) for you ... spend the extra few hundred and get the good stuff - RoundUp Pro Max.

There is no study one way or the other about glyphosate causing cancer. The lawsuit is just the usual alarmist greenie fake for power and money.

Once again, humans do not use EPSP synthase. The human body produces all of the enzymes it needs. There is no EPSPS activity in the human body. If you're a plant/weed, Glyphosate is probably going to make it tough on you. If you are a human, this is never a concern. Good thing you are not a weed.

The gut flora of some animals contain EPSPS. The genetic coding for EPSPS is not in the mammalian genome. There is no scientific evidence that consuming Glyphosate has any impact on the EPSPS found in some animals.

Even so, scientific illiterates want to restrict or ban the safest and most effective herbicide ever created. Good thing we don't rely on these same illiterates to feed the world. Anyone invoking the terms "Big Ag" or "Big Oil" or "Big Pharma" is more interested in "Big Government" than they are in conservative principles. Good luck with that.

Funny you mention that because in South America the Zika virus is blowing through like a wild fire.

Once again with the narrow view. EPSPS is not used by animals directly. It is used by bacteria, fungi and plant cells. Organisms that are supposed to remain alive in our guts. Our gut ecosystem is critical and forms the foundation for our body in ways that we are only beginning to understand.

By eating food sprayed with glyphosate, it is harming ALL organisms that use EPSPS within our gut. Altering the natural course of internal microbial life that we have been in symbiosis with for millions of years.

It is also killing bacteria and fungi in soil which we are now learning is most critical for true organic agriculture. Killing the weaker microbes forces farmers to use more artificial fertilizers to make up for the dead soil which further unbalances the soil and kills more microbes. It makes all plants weak from lack of soil diversity and more prone to pests/fungus/weeds (which forces the use of poisons that kill the soil even more). This all makes humans weak from lack of nutrient diversity and is inviting disastrous epidemics to kill us all.

It’s a vicious cycle that must be STOPPED IMMEDIATELY

Anyone know what cancers are prevelent from supposedly exposure? I used it for many years and ended up with lymphoma. Always thought hmmmmm.

Just wondering.

It’s not being done on a large scale because there is no big profit in wildlife management that takes time. It’s only being done on private farms/resorts/estates that stick to organic principles above fast profits.

Short sighted people like to see fast results that come from spraying and chemical makers love the profits. Future consequences be damned.

Once you start spraying, you are killing all natural predators up the food chain and you will forever be dependent on newer sprays. Animals naturally adapt and create balance. Manmade chemicals do not and kill all of them

If only microrganisms in the human gut used EPSPS, you might find someone who cares about your post. But nothing in the human body uses EPSPS so there is no molecular target. You are attempting to argue something meaningless.

In all studies on the small number of animals that happen to have intestinal flora that contain the EPSPS, none showed any effect from glyphosate consumption.

You want to prevent something that doesn't exist. Seems like a royal waste of time to me, but to each his own.

Not within the human body but within the bacteria, fungus and plant cells that are supposed to constantly move through the gut. They are part of the transient biology and must interact with the permanent microbes for the most natural function.

We have only scratched the surface of the role the various life forms within the gut play. Stop giving them any manmade poisons, only eat homegrown and I guarantee you'll feel like a new person in every way. No studies needed to know 100% natural is best

I have no dog in the Roundup fight, but Monsanto has gone after small farms for years. They have attempted to sue farmers when their crops contaminated nearby farms. Agriculture is a multi-billion dollar market and they want it all at whatever cost.

Science is great, but not when divorced from good. Ethanol was spawned by Monsanto as well—the entire market would collapse without their Roundup-ready corn. These companies are also registering genomes to control all production—not just GMOs, but native species that have been domesticated for centuries as well as newly discovered species that may become profitable in time. They have also been pursuing sterile plant lines so they can completely control the the market. If such a strain went rogue, the devastation could be biblical in scope.

Went rogue?

Sounds scary. A bunch of sterile plants, growing and dying off.
