Mogherini to Pompeo: No alternative to Iran deal [EU foreign affairs chief]

The EU’s foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, responded on to U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s speech on Iran, in which he vowed that Washington would impose unprecedented sanctions against Tehran following its withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal.

In a statement quoted by AFP, Mogherini warned that there is “no alternative” to the Iran nuclear deal.

“Secretary Pompeo’s speech has not demonstrated how walking away from the JCPOA has made or will make the region safer from the threat of nuclear proliferation or how it puts us in a better position to influence Iran’s conduct in areas outside the scope of JCPOA,” she said, using the acronym for the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, as the deal is officially known. […]

“The JCPOA is the result of more than a decade of complex and delicate negotiations, based on dual track approach and therefore the best possible outcome, striking the right balance,” Mogherini said, according to AFP.

“This deal belongs to the international community, having been endorsed by the United Nations Security Council. The international community expects all sides to keep the commitments they made more than two years ago,” she added. …

Well, this is the impression Obama gave to the EU, that they could dictate to us at will. And “more than a decade”? So this has been Democratic Party treason for that long, then.

Mogherini is a long-time communist too. Her official title is “High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy”, emphasis clearly on “high”.

Pompeo’s response should be:

“No alternatives” is a motto for losers.

But unlike Obama, Trump’s a winner.

So yes, there are alternatives, and you’ll soon find out what they are.

Yes, and what did they use it for? Attacking Israel openly.

Federica Mogherini, like most current day European political “leaders”, lacks vision and insight.

I’d just ignore these communist clowns except to threaten to pull out of NATO and terminate UN funding. Sorta like political sanctions. 👍

There apparently is no alternative to the Islamification of Europe. In fact, both sides insist.

Most of that ‘walking around’ money (the billion-plus pallet) was dispersed out, and I would take a guess that about half of the money was shipped out of the country to money-laundering operations, and deposited in foreign banks because everyone is expecting the Iranian banks to collapse in the coming year.

Federica Mogherini looks pretty strung out on drugs in the picture provided. However seriously doubt the picture is in context to the story.

The solution is a simple one. Toss it to the Senate as a treaty and let it die there, or get passed there.

Agreements like the one Obama left behind are too big and have too many world wide ramifications to not get a Senate vote as a treaty.

The essence of EU foreign policy is.... pre-emptive surrender, with a great deal of bluster thrown in.

How can you submit a treaty to the Senate that was never signed by Iran?

There’s no purpose to that question. Toss it to the Senate. If they consider the treaty unsigned by Iran then let them kill it.

Trump doesn’t have to take a hit on this. The senate will kill it.
