The NFL released a statement outlining a new anthem policy agreed to in a unanimous vote of league owners at this week’s meetings in Atlanta.

The policy calls for everyone on the field for the song to “stand and show respect,” but allows for players and other personnel to remain off the field if they choose. It also calls for the league to fine teams whose personnel do not “stand and show respect” and allows teams to set their own “work rules” for players who do not stand for the song.

After the NFL released its statement, the NFLPA responded with one of its own.

NFL Players Association does not like the new NFL rule and said that it "contradicts the statements made to our player leadership by Commissioner Roger Goodell and the Chairman of the NFL’s Management Council John Mara"

They also said that “Our union will review the new “policy” and challenge any aspect of it that is inconsistent with the collective bargaining agreement.”

What could be simpler than if you're not going to stand and respect the flag and the National Anthem, stay off the field?

I keep forgetting that the maniacs don't want solutions. They want issues. <^,,^>

CBA expires after 2020 season. Do you idiots really want the owners to recoup losses then?

They just want attention. These ‘Media Whores’ should get busy fixing the problem as they see it rather than a weak display of ‘caring’. Put your money where your mouth (or knee) is players. Don’t kneel on my dime. I’ll find something else to do on Sundays (or Mondays or Thursdays)

Go Buckeyes!

I don’t think they all realize just how badly they damaged the NFL brand. No matter what they do now, even if they do the right thing, it will take a decade to repair. The cities will still somewhat fill the stadiums. But I think out in flyover country there won’t be many watching or buying their gear. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

That’s it idiots. Let your “union” stand for anti-Americanism.

Smart play.

You might as well support MS-13 like the Democrats while you are at it.

Thus why the teams are being fined not the players.

I got along just fine without them last year and expect to do the same this year.
Many of the players showed what they think and being forced to stand changes nothing.

The NFL players union has way too much power - power which the courts have granted them by mis-applying anti-trust statutes to the NFL. The NFL oligarchs have gone along with the bargain to avoid having themselves sued for anti-trust violation (i.e. maintaining high entry barriers to team expansion.) Fewer teams means owners make more money. Sharing the pot with more teams dilutes their profit so they strictly control entry into their club to maximize their profit. Not challenging the NFLPA is a small price to pay for them to maintain their exclusivity.

Enforced I’m sure by a whole bunch of unconstitutional federal laws.

What bull sh#t.

The feds have NO constitutional authority to protect or enforce unions or unionization.

FNFL will schedule a MS-13 day. All members of MS-13 will get in for half price!

My prediction is this: any team that doesn’t feel confident that all of their players will stand for the national anthem is going to keep all of their personnel off the field until after the anthem is played.

The NFLPA is actually the weakest union in major U.S. sports, from what I understand.
