NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) -- Two people are in critical condition and a shooter is in custody after a shooting inside of Noblesville West Middle School.

Police are reporting that the situation has been contained. Police are on scene and a SWAT team is sweeping the building. The school is on lockdown. Officials are requesting more medical help on the scene.

One victim is a 13-year-old girl. One victim is an adult. Both victims are heading to IU Health Methodist hospital. Families have been notified.

One student told News 8 that he heard several shots fired but did not know if they were fired inside or outside of the building.

A teacher inside of the school said students are being moved to the high school. Some students are being kept in closets and being told that busses will take them to the high school.

A public information officer with Indiana State Police said they are "sending everyone."

"We have two that have been injured that have been taken to Methodist Hospital. I don't have any names. I don't have any updates on their statues," said Captain Dave Bursten with ISP.

The school sent a message to parents stating:

Shots have been reported at Noblesville West Middle School. Reports of one injury. Police are onsite and school is in lockdown. Standby for more info.

Lets stop giving these kids the freedom and undeserved attention they demand would be a good start. The world does not march to their drummer and they haven’t figured that out.

Just saw the numbers for increased security in our school district. There goes the property tax - again. It’s a lot cheaper and healthier for all to bring back the board of education and permanently expel the mental cases.

these kids today

Yep, the outcome of the decline of the two parent household doesn't help these kids. So many of these shooters are from single family homes, have mental illness, probably play videos all day because of lack of supervision, probably take drugs so the single parent can cope.

It’s also annoying the way the act AFTER the incidents are over. Kids remain “in lockdown” for hours incommunicado with parents. Parents are told to go to some remote location miles away. etc etc...

Drama...

The useless silly media is going to carry on all day about this and speculate until the false hoods emerge.

The police have already said that there is no more to say at the moment.

Now that RAT Joe Donnelly is on his stinkin’ way from Evansville to save the day.

Guess what, he is lagging behind in the race. I hope this wasn’t engineered to help Donnelly.

You know what...I’m past caring. If parents don’t care enough to monitor and raise their kids then this is just going to increase...and the parents will ALWAYS lay blame somewhere else every time! Taking guns won’t matter as they’ll just use knifes or acid or whatever.....these kids today are out of parental control and everyone knows it!

I read a great article yesterday (which I can’t find now), about the cause of school shootings.

The title, or main idea, was “No one is in charge”. Having gone to public school from 1955-1968 and having seven kids, the last one of which is in third grade, made me really appreciate that description of what afflicts our schools.

When I was in school, even in high school, even in 1968, our days were structured around “do” and “do not”. The do’s and don’ts were pretty much derived from Western European protestant thought. This rigid authority structure created freedom to learn (or not) with a system of disincentives that were very broadly supported in the community.

My children, even my first, who went to school in 1985, have grown up under a system of “making good choices”. There is a soft reward system for “making a good choice”, but if you “make a bad choice” not a whole lot of a negative character happens to you.

When I was a libertarian, I believed that giving people freedom led to happiness. Of course, the unexamined premise is “freedom to do
what?” The non-aggression principle is fine to govern high-IQ groups of people with a strong moral upbringing, but is a disaster in the cesspools that our cities and suburbs have become.

At most schools, the adults are there as guides or inspirations to “young learners”. To use edspeak, they are not a “sage on the stage” but rather a “guide alongside”.

School shooters all make a bad choice the day they do their crime. The question which, as a practical matter does not exist in the environment where they spend most of their waking hours, is, “why shouldn’t I make this bad choice?”

By the time they are men (young men, but men nonetheless), disincentives are too late.

Then we send these mush heads to public schools and the "valueless" progressive indoctrination really messes with their heads

You combine a widespread pathological narcissism with a media ready to heap fame/infamy on an individual for an act like this and it’s bound to happen.

Frankly I honestly expect this to continue for a long time as long as parents continue to let and encourage these kids that the world owes them a favor and everything should come up roses for them... rather than teach their kids how to handle life in general.

Of course when you look at the parents today they themselves leave much to be desired. They certainly don’t see parenthood as that or the attitudes of kids would not be as we see.

Furthermore we need to lower the age for prosecuting kids...

Well I still have to say these kids are not uninformed about what life is today....they choose rather not to value it....and that is a ‘choice’ they do make.

......”The question which, as a practical matter does not exist in ‘the environment’ where they spend most of their waking hours, is, “why shouldn’t I make this bad choice?”.....

No... I can’t buy it’s an environmental issue. It still goes back to the home life (authority or not) and the choices these kids are making from the influences right ‘there’....

I was raised poor, by widowed parent...you could see snow on my bedroom floor after a storm for the house we lived in. But there were rules and there was punishment when those were broken. When younger we were spanked with a yardstick that stung our legs like crazy...but we got the message clearly! That if you do the crime you’ll get what’s coming to you. We also were warned...loudly if necessary.

We were taught the ten commandments for a reason as youngsters.....and reminded that God was watching when in church....most of all to honor your parents even when you didn’t like what they were telling you.

The basics.....just the basics.

Not the schools....better... look at the home fronts....

The next parent that says ‘we had no idea” needs to be told oh yes you did!

If I were a conspiracy theorist it would occur to me how quickly this pushed yesterday’s positive result of concealed-carry in OKC off the front page.

I used to think thoughts like this were kooky.

Not so much anymore. I don’t put anything past the anti-2nd amend. agenda.

....”Drama”...

Yes, further coddling of these whining brats which many of them are. In life stuff happens, and as well in schools....look at Chicago a gun free zone yet has the highest rates of murder. Same with Detroit and other cities where parental authority isn’t there and school authority has been stripped of any for fear someone my hurt their darlings!
