Tom Cruise has heralded the start of shooting on Paramounts long-anticipated Top Gun sequel. Cruise tweeted an image late Wednesday featuring his character, Pete Maverick Mitchell, looking at a fighter jet down the tarmac.
The teaser image for Top Gun: Maverick, which Cruise also posted on his Instagram page, featured the legend Feel the need, a reference to the original films legendary quote, I feel the need the need for speed, accompanied by the hashtag #Day1.

“The church is looking for a little contribution”
The “church” has it’s own tv channel now so they must be doing ok.
Cruise on the other hand may be feeling the pinch from his “donations” to the “church”.

That would make his character about 60, way too old to be in a fighter cockpit, let alone have been in the Navy for 36 years.

The original Top Gun house where Cruise buffed McGillis is still here on Pacific in oceanside. Anyone have match?

>>Well, ok, Chuck Yeager would have been an old, bold fighter pilot if he stayed in fighters but he moved on well before he got to Cruises age.
"Mach 2" Scott Crossfield killed himself by flying into a thunderstorm a few years ago.

“Doubtful that he would be flying anything if still in the Navy.”
A desk, maybe. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 55 year old pilot in any of the armed forces - they tend to get promoted out of flying jobs by that age, if not retired (up or out, right?)

Of all the things the world needs, another Tom Cruise flick aint one ofem.I used to think that. But with a few exceptions - his foray as Jack Reacher - he is physically all wrong for the part - and that bomb The Mummy - he consistently delivers good performances in good movies. Loved the last MI and I thought Edge of Tomorrow was great too.

You must be joking...
If I were joking I’d say, what do you do with an elephant with three balls?
Huh?
Walk him and pitch to the rhino!

Well, there was recently a honest to goodness BADASS chick pilot... you might have heard of her... She flew a plane that had the engine explode, taking out a window and depressurizing the cabin and had a passenger halfway sucked out... Oh yeah, and she was an F/A-18 pilot in the Navy.
Tammie Jo Shults
You can read about her here. https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/18/us/southwest-pilot-landing/index.html

What makes Cruise movies is the special effects and CGI.
When a movie depends on his acting ability it’s a dud.
I like actors to have more than one facial expression.
Other than Risky Business, Top Gun, Days of Thunder and the MI movies Tom Cruise hasn’t produced a winner yet.
Not a good track record for a major “star” who gets paid what he does.
