Howard Schultz established himself as a player in politics before he decided to leave Starbucks

Howard Schultz is leaving Starbucks after becoming more active in politics in recent years. While Schultz has previously denied plans to run for president, he said Monday he wants to see if he can play a role in "giving back." He was a vocal Hillary Clinton supporter and has heavily criticized some policies pursued by President Donald Trump.

In the years before he confirmed his plans to leave Starbucks on Monday, Howard Schultz took an active role in politics through both his words and money.

Schultz has previously denied speculation that he could run for president. Still, he indicated Monday that he will leave the door open to a career in politics once he leaves his role as the coffee chain's executive chairman later this month.

"I want to be truthful with you without creating more speculative headlines. For some time now, I have been deeply concerned about our country — the growing division at home and our standing in the world. One of the things I want to do in my next chapter is to figure out if there is a role I can play in giving back. I'm not exactly sure what that means yet," he told Andrew Ross Sorkin on Monday.

He told employees that he will think about "a range of options" from "philanthropy to public service."

Schultz recently established himself as a player in the political world — in no small part thanks to his outspoken criticism of President Donald Trump. In his public comments and contributions, Schultz has portrayed a left of center political ideology.

In January 2017, he announced that Starbucks would hire 10,000 refugees over five years, only two days after Trump issued an executive order barring refugees from several Muslim-majority countries. In comments to employees the following month, Schultz said Trump created "chaos" that hurt the U.S. economy.

Last year, he criticized the Republican tax plan before Congress passed it in December.

"This is a tax cut. This is fool's gold. [Trump] wants to take the corporate tax rate from 35 to 20 percent for what purpose? Is that profit going to go back to the people who need it the most? Is that going to help small businesses? Is that going to help half the country that doesn't have $400 in their bank account for a crisis? No," he said at the DealBook conference in November.

Schultz vocally supported Hillary Clinton for president in 2016, giving $10,800 to her joint fundraising committee with the Democratic Party. That year, he gave $1,250 to the campaign of Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., and $5,000 to VoteVets, an organization that works with progressive groups on issues pertinent to military veterans.

His contributions have not just gone to Democrats, though. This year, he contributed $50,000 to With Honor Fund, a cross-partisan organization that works to elect veterans.

How many refugees has Starbucks hired?

You’d think that’d a relevant matter in this article.

Not gonna happen. Ditto with Zuckerberg, Bloomberg, and all the other corporate wannabees.

Maybe the biggest laff-riot was Zuckerberg “testing the waters” in Iowa.

A. Who?

B. All the diversity training costs Starbucks 16 million $ plus I haven’t been there since, and I know I would have gone at least twice for my favorite 5.00 beverage. Then he leaves, but not because he wasted 16 million $. I suspect this is the guy in charge. But his reason for leaving is totally unrelated to his stupid progressive moves.

C. After paying for his golden parachute, Starbucks will quietly go back to making money and not so much of the social justice crap, except they hire a lot of the nose ring, ear lobe-stretching, tattoo-decorated demographic.

Why stop with ruining a single chain of successful stores. Turn the entire country into a bathroom for illegals and homeless.

Yeah but he’s no Donald Trump and so far all he has going for him is he is rich and he’s a leftist. No evidence of being any kind of Patriot at all with no message.

In fact the left in general has no real message other than ‘not Trump’ at a time when the economy is roaring, NK peace is looking very possible, and things are not blazing hot with Russia. Even the middle east has been turned down a notch or two.

“He told employees that he will think about “a range of options” from “philanthropy to public service.””

I’m thinking he wants to “emulate” George Soros. Good for him, they have the same ethnic background. But he will need a lot more money.

Based on his and Johnson's poor performance in this bias training fiasco, he's definitely not ready for prime time yet.

Oh, but I forgot, he's a democRAT. Not knowing what to do as a leader is a real asset for the liberal ideologues as long as they tow the liberal line of poor choices and unintended consequences.

Schultz is a wannabe social justice warrior disguised as a capitalist.

A white Obama.

1. He’s deeply concerned about growing division, yet his sides’ path to power is via identity division. Vote for me to empower your group.

2. He thinks money to poor is empowering, without acknowledging that no amount of money will help making up for bad life decisions. You have to correct the decisions before lending a hand.

I am grateful to him. His politics was one of the things that caused me to search for other sources of coffee. I now get better coffee for less than $2.00 per cup at a Grab n’Go near my work. Thank you, Howard.

This is being reported as if it were a good thing. Maybe it is; if he’s as brilliant at politics as he is at alienating the public with his progressivism, bring it on. We need another leftist loon to showcase their absurdity. Maxine Waters can be his running mate.

Fox New Headline on 6/04/18

Howard Schultz to step down as Starbucks executive chairman to run for President!
(Starbucks chairman Schultz stepping down ahead of rumored White House run!)

Howard Schultz, the Starbucks executive who oversaw the Seattle coffeehouse chain’s global expansion, will step down as the company’s executive chairman of the board on June 26, the company confirmed on Monday.

Schultz, 64, spent four decades working at Starbucks. He served as the company’s CEO from 1987 to 2000 and returned to the role for a second stint from 2008 to 2016, when he was replaced by current CEO Kevin Johnson.

“I set out to build a company that my father, a blue-collar worker and World War II veteran, never had a chance to work for,” Schultz wrote in a letter to Starbucks employees. “Together we’ve done that, and so much more, by balancing profitability and social conscience, compassion and rigor, and love and responsibility.”

Starbucks shares slid in after-hours trading on the announcement.

A prominent critic of President Donald Trump, Schultz has long been rumored to have political aspirations. Schultz said earlier this year that the Trump administration “is creating episodic chaos” in the country.

Let’s be honest, this shit bag is getting out from under the starbucks revenue crash that his stupid, shallow, overreaction to an SJW “setup” is going to produce nation wide. How to kill a brand in one afternoon. The (Star)bucks stops with Schultz
