A couple of years ago on my birthday, I hadn’t heard from either of my two kids that live close by beforehand about doing anything, so I just made plans with a friend. The kids texted me around lunch on the day asking where I wanted to go for dinner. They were shocked when I told them I had plans.
LOL I remember not always being as considerate of my parents and others on some occasions, because I was so busy with my husband and kids, etc.
Happy Father’s Day to your husband!
The attacking is just ridiculous on that thread, have attacked me a couple of times, they know all.
Oooops, been a change in the cobbler, the Boss didn’t want the blueberries so now it is just a peach cobbler, smells wonderful.
I had 2 quail eating some peaches I threw out back, they were making noise and having just a great time.
Surprised the coyote hasn’t gotten them yet, miss all my rabbits.
Have a good one.
Hubby got a text back, finally, asking us to go to brunch with them as they were on their way, this was 1 hr. after we ate breakfast.
Kids do let their busy lives get in way of planning ahead, many times think we are just sitting here doing nothing, would like a bit of a heads up, please.
Your story is truly typical of today’s grown children but I find it sad as I know we all want to spend time with our kids.
Hope they drop in sometime today but.....
My son went to school in Mexifornia also. I had to debrief
him when he got home.
Sadly, private school and schools in Texas were no better - textbooks had the same liberal drivel and teachers were educated the same. I got a teaching certificate in Texas, so i know of what i speak - it was liberal indoctrination all the time, very little about actual teaching
The rest of my grandkids are in Texas. Two of them in Dallas, went to pretty good private schools until this year, now in public schools and I don’t see them very often so don’t know how that’s going. The schools here in our more conservative town don’t seem too bad, although a couple of years ago I caught my grandson’s third grade teacher downloading and teaching common core math.
Well perhaps she had no choice. We can give her the benefit of the doubt! Administrators tend to be the most liberal and they force the teachers to do things the way they want.
im told the teachers here are pretty conservative - but i dont know if thats wishful thinking or actual knowledge. i would hope so, just as in Texas when the population is more conservative, the teachers cant get too out of hand or parents would complain ;)
I was disgusted how liberal the professors were in the education department. And it seems like the 20 somethings were just buying at all. That was pretty demoralizing. Us older folks were just looking at each other shaking our heads.
I just wish they would stick to teaching reading, writing including cursive, history as it really happened, proven science, and math that adds up.
YES!
I agree 100%. History without revisions! And cursive. How are kids even going to be able to sign their names? I have a neighbor who thinks not teaching cursive is intended so kids will not be able to read our founding documents. Not as they were written anyway.
It is so delightful to meet people here that are almost like freepers. Sometimes I want to ask what their screen name is. :-)
The Hummers have been active here lately, thank you for reminding me to fill my feeder.
Now I need to keep reading up thread a bit to see if you got together with your kids.
Now I see that you saw them :-) and you got to have breakfast and brunch on the same day. I imagine you skipped lunch?
That is so sad, sorry to hear of your loss. I get attached to some of the beautiful trees. We lost our Japanese maple last year, really our only pretty tree in the yard. I know if we replace it itll take forever for one to grow that big.
CONGRATULATIONS!
WOW!
50,000!
THATS a YUGE MILESTONE!
Thanks, onyx!
I’m catching up to you.
At this rate, if you stop posting, I should overtake you by about the year 2087.
