Kim Jong-un flies home to sell the deal to the North Korean ruling elite

It looks as though President Trump won over Kim Jong-un in Singapore, but now Kim has to sell the deal to the Pyongyang power elite. The stick of a threat of “fire and fury” (meaning the military destruction of the regime) and the carrot of wealth – like that of glittering Singapore, where Kim took the opportunity for sightseeing, including a lavish casino run the Sheldon Adelson’s Sands corporation -- certainly worked on the dictator.

At his press conference, President Trump mentioned that he had shown a video to Kim illustrating the wealth that could lie ahead for Kim and his regime with an opening to the world. He also showed off his limousine, known as The Beast, apparently impressing him with its massiveness. Kim Jong-un clearly loves the boy toys of modernity.

I have long believed that the fact that Kim spent his formative years in a Swiss boarding school was a huge opportunity, for the rest of the North Korean elite has no such exposure to the West. But in order for this deal to move forward and realize its potential, Kim is going to have to convince the rest of the Pyongyang power elite to go along, and risk destruction of their nuclear security blanket and some degree of openness to the international world, including intrusive inspection visits and trade. The people who command military and police units (some of whom have been replaced with KJU loyalists),those who control key state enterprises, and those who are able to supply bribes – luxury goods from the West, mainly, but also food – must go along, or else, as my colleague Rick Moran put it this morning, “Don't be surprised if Kim doesn’t wake up one morning.”

The North Korean regime is best understood as a gangster operation,

Well, as I see it, we suspended the military drills in exchange for Kim Jong Un’s promise to denuclearize.

I know we’ll keep our part, but will Kim keep his?

Who comes out the winner here?

What’s there to sell? Either they accept it or they face the multiple barrels of a AAA piece.

He’s the dictator. What he says is law. Anyone who disagrees is killed. The deal is already sold to his country. They will be applauding it, or be disappeared.

“Would we have cheered Chamberlain?”

The press cheered Chamberlain thereby propagating the myth.

Seasoned diplomats knew better. The Great War was fairly fresh in their minds, they knew the end of WWI was brokered by something much less than a proper governmental representative, and they knew the penalties imposed on Germany were very harsh, considering that the German borders were never breached by allied forces. Quite extraordinary in retrospect. Coupled with a devastating recession all made the populist National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NAZI) very appealing to the downtrodden masses.

Chamberlain did know war was inevitable, but in 1938, Britain was in no shape to start a war. They had to avoid at all costs the humiliation of Hitler marching into Czechoslovakia with the military. But as soon as the ink dried on the Munich Agreement, Britain pretty much went on a War footing.

Note that Hitler was very unhappy with Munich, he was eager to try out his Wehrmacht, to see how effective they were. He wasn’t going to make the same mistake with Poland.

"Riddle me this -- isn't KIM JONG UN the law in North Korea? Why does he have to sell the deal to anyone?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The West simply has no comprehension of how deply and thoroughly KJU and his family have propagandized and brainwashed the citizens and leaders of Nork-land.
Virtually nothing the North Koreans are allowed to see actually reflects reality. NOTHING!! Everything they are allowed to see and hear is an elaborate set-piece -- with nothing real behind the painted canvas.
I have little doubt that the Q team and their compatriots in MI-PsypOps had a great deal to do with formulating and editing that video that Trump showed KJU. And, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't play a role in setting up KJU's "sightseeing tour" to the top of the MBS! (See #805...)
Had I a hand in producing that video, I would start with a night satellite view of the glittering Singapore that KJU had just toured. Then I would pan to South Korea -- and then zoom out to this view:
"This is reality -- and, the way the entire world sees your country. You have seen what is possible. Be the leader who literally lifts his country out of the dark ages. We (the USA and the rest of the world) are ready and willing to help you and your people do that. But, first, you must..."
Then, I'd have sent him home with a sleek little American laptop -- and that movie on a flash drive...
~~~~~~~~~~~

It's called, "Winning"... '-)

Even though I've always considered Chamberlain to be somewhat short of a hero, he did buy time for Britain to gear up for the inevitable war that they knew was coming. Whether he meant to do this or not, he was instrumental in the eventual success of the war. What if Chamberlain had drawn a hard line with Hitler? Did he even have that option?

Hitler felt if he could get a convincing military victory in Czechoslovakia, he would basically scare Britain and France into dropping their pledge to defend Poland.

But Chamberlain’s concessions regarding the Sudetenland, threw Hitler somewhat off-guard, he knew he’d become even more of a pariah if he started a war in Czechoslovakia with the knowledge that Britain was willing to give him the Sudetenland for free.

That’s why Hitler knew when it came to Poland he would just keep moving the goalposts until there was no choice but war.

He has to go home and convince himself (since he is the ruling elite), and consult his mini of which I’m sure he has at least one as his companion. 8>)

Is he “the law”? Kinda. All dictators, Hitler, Stalin, etc all wield power as long as two or three levels on the pyramid below them think he is doing things right. The truth is, all leaders know there are people they cannot piss off.
We aren’t even immune. See JFK as an example.
On the totalitarian point of view, Hitler wouldn’t have lasted a week had the German generals and industrialists not supported him and become enriched.
Every dictator lives in fear that the ones one level below him will depose him.

“Kim murders his own family when they get in his way- Kim isn’t going to have to sell anything-”

And THAT is the very proof he does indeed have to sell it. He lives in constant fear that a group will decide he needs to go. He has never personally murdered anyone. He isn’t stupid and knows well that one day, someone will organize the gangster state apparatus against him.

Say China tells his sister they would support her, she and some generals begin to plot..

He murdered that half brother for a very good reason. ALl he had to do was let the right people know how their star would rise if he were in charge.

There are a million ways his infernal machine could turn against him. He is a synapse away from someone wanting him dead. That is why he orders so many murders. He isnt stupid and knows someone out there in his own world can easily give that order for him, and find someone to carry it out. He won’t even let anyone cut his hair. He does it himself.

Yes, he has to convince some extremely dangerous people that he is doing the correct thing. All it takes is for some uncles, cousins, or some relatives to convince the right people that he has deviated from his fathers vision, was corrupted by study abroad. He would be dead by the weekend.

And, here's the video Trump showed KJU -- and, yes, it did show the satellite view of the dark North Korea -- but, it went a step further -- and showed a possible future view -- of North Korea filled with light!

My guess is that Trump presented KJU with a laptop or tablet -- with this video running on it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=251&v=RJHZ32t7064

There's no doubt that we targeted the "other leadership" in NK (as well as KJU) with this (not too slick) propaganda piece...
