I don’t see that happening. Something much simpler seems likely.

I saw Lou Dobbs say that on his show today.

“Reporting” is the wrong word. He said it like his was speculating or predicting it would happen, based more on his opinion and analysis than any facts he might have heard.

Ryan will have a MAMA hat:

Make America Mexico Again!

and wear Aztlan T-shirts on the campaign trail.

or, MSFA:

Make the Swamp Foetid Again

And he’d rack up a solid .1% of the vote!

"Paul Ryan will run for POTUS in 2020 against Trump"

In the Primary or the General Election?

The other Swamp plan might be running a 3rd party candidate to try to create a Perot effect.

Perot got Bill Clinton elected POTUS without Clinton getting 44% of the vote.

Ryan and Kasich seem likely candidates to play spoiler.

Ryan is set for life already with lobbying gigs as former Speaker of the House.
They might be promising him backing in 2024 if he pulls this stunt now. Or a pile of cash. No telling.

If he gets 20% of the vote even in early states, MSM will spin it as “Trump is toast. His party has left him.” Then Kasich shows up and they spin some more.

It’ll be planned and typical Swamp tactics.

He would only have to deliver a few RINOs to the Democrats to pass an amnesty bill, and really do a lot of damage to the Republican party. Who here thinks he would not do that as a way to undermine Trump?

Two problems with that plan...
1. Right Wing voters care less and less every day about the RNC and the GOP. They have done nothing but stab us in the back for decades. I'm fully on board with Ryan damaging the Republican Party.
2. An amnesty bill would not undermine Trump. He can sign it or veto it. Ryan and the RINO-ettes don't have the votes to override a veto. If Trump actually signs it, then the onus would still be on Congress, and once again, the Republican Party. The Left would celebrate, voters on the Right would dismantle the GOP and RNC, and Trump would be able to form a new party from scratch.

Let Ryan kill the RNC and GOP, if that's what he wants to do. We would be better off anyway.

It’ll be a disappointing run. I don’t see him getting much in terms of the Iowa-attention. Money-wise, I think he’ll run out of funding by the end of January. He can’t even win his home-state. Trump? He’s probably already got a nickname for Ryan.

Ryan could show well in Iowa and New Hampshire. Kasich jumps into the race then and national MSM has their pre-scripted stories to run.

“Trump is done. Lost his base. Party has rejected him. He’s a man without a party. No chance of re-election. He will drop out of the race any day now.”

Trump doesn’t fully consolidate his nomination until he goes south. That’s a month of MSM blasting the American voters that Trump is toast and they need to give up.

That’s a month of RINOs excited Trump won’t be the nominee and creating division in the Republican base.

Similar to what happens in a lot of local elections: the opposition puts up a fake candidate to split the vote.

Ryan first, likely Kasich or even Romney second to pop up and run.

The idea is the Republicans will be in tatters after all that and won’t be up for a fight in the general.

The 2020 Republican primaries:

Date (2020)
State Type
Mon, Feb 3 Iowa Caucuses Closed
Tue, Feb 11 New Hampshire Mixed
Sat, Feb 15 Nevada Caucus (D) Closed
Sat, Feb 22 South Carolina (D) Open
-
Tue, Mar 3 Alabama Open
Tue, Mar 3 California Mixed
Tue, Mar 3 Massachusetts Mixed
