A woman who allegedly shouted "Allahu akbar" attacked two people with a box cutter at a supermarket in southern France on Sunday before she was arrested, local media reported.
The incident took place around 10:30 a.m. at the supermarket Leclerc in the Mediterranean city of La Seyne-sur-Mer, located near Marseilles.
Witnesses told Var-matin the young woman attacked a customer and employee.
The woman was dressed in black and wearing a veil at the time, shouting "Allahu akbar" -- "God is great" in Arabic -- before she was placed under control by people intervening, according to Var-matin.
Europe 1 radio quoted Toulon prosecutor Bernard Marchals as saying that a customer in the store in La Seyne-sur-Mer was injured in the chest in the Sunday morning attack and hospitalized.
A woman at the market's cash register was injured too, but less seriously.
Marchal said the suspect may have mental health problems, but has not been identified as police search her home.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but ENGLAND, not France is the land of outlawed guns. The French have guns and lots of them. They are one of the most heavily armed countries in the world. France is credited with having over 30% of its citizens owning a gun. My experience is that well over that number possess firearms. I have a 12 ga. in France at the moment for hunting and shooting TRAP. Sometimes I’ve had more, but never less. When I walk through Charles de Gaulle airport with my gun case I get no more than a glance from the security people. If I did the same at Heathrow, mass hysteria would break out.
Because you and your .40 cal are in America, not France.

But does France have a right of self defense like we do?
Anywhere but America, using a gun to defend yourself is highly illegal and self defense is not a valid reason for obtaining a gun license.
You mentioned shotguns. Isn’t that about the only firearm one can own in France with minimum hassle and no autoloaders, please?

I may have inferred and more than a few would probably interpret it the way you did, but I actually said
‘In the land of outawed guns etc...’
in the same respect I would have said
‘In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king’ which did ‘inspire’ my comment.
Don’t understand why so many have to get so GD smarmy and taking every nuance and sarcastic remark as gospel.

Quite simply because the slamming of the French is constant on this site. Look at the multiple skanky statements always made about the “surrender monkeys” etc. for the last several years. I prefer the truth be known and I know a lot more about French history and the French people than probably 95% of the people here.
The truth is: France IS NOT “the land of outlawed guns.”
If you wish to make a smarmy comment, do not act as if it is the gospel truth. You are teaching people a falsehood!
I have never tried to get one so don’t know. I carry long guns in my car, on the train and planes regularly. No problems. I also have a lifetime hunting permit in France for which I passed a test many years ago.
