Former President Barack Obama is calling out President Trump's "zero tolerance" policy that separates families at the border, asking "are we a nation that accepts the cruelty of ripping children from their parents’ arms, or are we a nation that values families, and works to keep them together?"
"If you've been fortunate enough to have been born in America, imagine for a moment if circumstance had placed you somewhere else," Obama said in a statement on Facebook to commemorate World Refugee Day. "Imagine if you'd been born in a country where you grew up fearing for your life, and eventually the lives of your children. A place where you finally found yourself so desperate to flee persecution, violence, and suffering that you'd be willing to travel thousands of miles under cover of darkness, enduring dangerous conditions, propelled forward by that very human impulse to create for our kids a better life."
Obama later criticized the policy that has resulted in thousands of families being separated at the U.S.-Mexico border, saying that watching these families broken apart in real time poses a very simple question to Americans.
"Are we a nation that accepts the cruelty of ripping children from their parents’ arms, or are we a nation that values families, and works to keep them together? Do we look away, or do we choose to see something of ourselves and our children?"

It is not the “zero tolerance policy” that seperates families at the border. Adults accused of a crime at the border are jailed when charged, and a court order, before Trump came into office, does not allow children to be housed with anyone accused of a crime who must answer to the charge appearing before a judge. But those charged with a crime are in fact arrested, and jailed, and the kids cannot be taken to jail. So to keep the kids out of the jail house, pedning the parents hearing in court, the children are separated to a safe place that is by law required to see they are taken care of.
The “zero tolerance policy” is merely not doing Obama’s policy of “catch and release” at the border. It is known that catch and release does not reduce illegal immigration, it encourages it. With catch and release, pending some future court date, the illegal group dissipates into the population of the United States, remaining here illegally, never appearing for their court date, and enver seeing a U.S. court until they commit some later crime or discovered to be here illegally by accident, or by way of an ICE sweep of businesses suspect of hiring illegals.
Trump is doing what needs to be done - trying to stop the blead at the border.

I’d say imagine an America where people lived well because its citizens understood what was required to make living well possible, and then it was inundated by people that did not have that understanding, and soon America was ruined.
