I would say all Federal alphabet agencies are redundant and worthless.

A Department of Labor and Education still gives the federal government a role in education. Eliminate it! Better yet, get back to the proper role of the federal government and eliminate the departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Labor, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, Energy, Education, and Veterans Affairs. Any agencies that need to be retained can be put under the Department of the Interior.

Two union friendly departments synchronizing their messages?
I’m not sure this won’t backfire bigly!

"Brilliant......linking Education with Labor....."

Yes indeed. and it provides a way to reduce the bloated number of staff in these departments and reconfigure the mission of both.

A common-sense first step would be to get rid of the liberal myth that everybody has to go to college. No, everybody DOESN'T have to go to college. There is a tremendous need for skilled machinists, carpenters, highway workers, pipefitters, and tradesmen of all kinds. Let's start heavily promoting vocational training schools on par with promoting the liberal arts and REALLY get America working again.

I’d like to get rid of them both. Any “training” grants I’d do through the department of commerce, with it tasks to identify where industry has missing qualified talent, so grants are not just “out there to be had” but directed to helping fill what industry needs.

The states would do well with fe`deral taxes lowered by exactly the same as budget of dep of ed, leaving that money in the pocketbooks of the residents of the states and the states taking care of educaiton themselves which well they can.

I’d not only eliminate the dep of labor, I’d eliminate the Labor Board. If Congress wants to write a new labor “regulation” Congress can do it themselves; passing the buck to the imperial executive is abdication of their responsibilities.

Great start at reducing the size of Leviathan. Could also save about 80 billion a year.

How do you figure?

Kill the Education Department. The rise of that fetid department destroyed education in the U.S.

Obama taking over college education financing led to all these radical SJWs on campus and the explosion of worthless undergraduate and graduate degrees. These useless graduates all have one aim...defeat the U.S.

U.S. government OUT OF EDUCATION!!

Only IF you can keep your fingers. That guy has a very dangerous table saw setup and work practice. Serious accident waiting to happen there.

Then locate the headquarters of the agency outside DC, like Indianapolis.

Better idea: shut down both of them. Let Mick Mulvaney be the hatchet man to do so.

That’s why we need good vocational schools! 😉

There are a couple of logical results from this:
* significant reduction in headcount, blaming merger instead of “I don’t like you”
* the ability to cut funding for social justice and diversity programs because education is supposed to prepare people for the workforce
* promotion of apprenticeships and vocational training over “let’s send everyone to college because you have to have a degree to get a job”; universities that are turning out activists over employees lose funding

Yeah, I cringed when I saw that.
It looks like something I would do but chastise my son if I saw him doing it.
Typical.
