To understand the madness gripping American leftists, try to see the world through their eyes. Presto, you’re now part of the raging resistance.
Like the Palestinians who mark Israel’s birth as their nakba, or tragedy, you regard Donald Trump’s 2016 victory as a catastrophe. It’s the last thing you think of most nights, and the first thing most mornings.
You can’t shake it or escape it. Whatever you watch, listen to or read, there are reminders — Donald Trump really is president.
You actually believe the New York Times is too nice to him, so you understand why a Manhattan woman urged a reporter there to stop covering Trump to protest his presidency.
And where the hell is Robert Mueller? He was supposed to save us from this nightmare — that’s what Chuck Schumer banked on. Well?
You spend your tax cut even as you rail against the man who made it happen. And you are pleased that cousin Jimmy finally got a job, though you repeat the daily devotional that Barack Obama deserves credit for the roaring economy.
And now this — Justice Anthony Kennedy is retiring, and Trump gets another Supreme Court pick. The court might tilt right for the rest of your life. He’s winning.

But naw...but I just can conjure any sympathy for those losers.
They are devouring their own...as it should be.
The left is sputtering itself apart, is what’s happening.
By being a lightning rod for the hate, Donald Trump is providing cover for lower level anti-left activity.
That said, I keep on annoying everybody by saying this, but we need a balanced spirituality. The left has completely walked away from anything that was classically known as liberalism. The siren song of Alinsky and the like, with its chaos uber alles and then reap the spoils of a dying country, have brought it to ignominious lowness. The question for everybody else is how to avoid running down the same rabbit hole. I cringe every time I hear “Oh, let’s Alinsky them back.” Nope. That book was dedicated, in essence, to the devil. Those wise to salvation would confront it with salvationally oriented messages. But who’s wise to salvation today?
Change that last sentence from “They” to to “Those who were made to be in God’s image” — and now you see how both sides of this worldly conflict look to God.

Had a conversation with a hard core leftist I have known for years, the other day.
These are not the smartest tools in the shed on any given day to begin with. But CNN, MSNBC, and Daily Kos has this woman utterly convinced that Donald Trump is just hours away from being dragged off in chains by Mueller.
And that Trump intends to destroy the country, as well as enslave women.
We should not laugh at this stuff, they are serious.
So far we have been lucky. Trump needs to wake up and fire Rosenstein and dissolve the Special Counsel.
When it does not happen, those who can speak with a voice that sounds like reason can (1) Throw that voice away and just gloat; or (2) Tell them they got fooled by forces larger than humanity, and that Jesus is waiting. Of course to be credible, your OWN life has to look like Jesus, who wasn’t known as a gloater.
Always figured we’d have to beat the left, never figured they’d beat themselves.

We all have to live before God, and many people haven’t gone but one superficial step into what that looks like.
Christians can use situations of tragedy, even self embraced tragedy, to show people the way to God. I get regularly hooted at as “self righteous” by pointing this out — but I wish to take pains here to point out too that I am not sympathizing with the degraded philosophy of the modern left. They must take a higher view of what liberality means, one that embraces even their own enemies. BUT SO DO WE.

You nailed it. IMO their first big win was the Vietnam war when Walter Crookedkite, the most trusted man in America, started to lie. That war was fought hard to an American win with a negotiated peace. But the left just could not take it, defunded the South Vietnamese, and let the NVA just roll in, with the left and commies (same thing) the real winners.
They had a brief losing streak during the Reagan Era, then 12 years of solid wins beginning with Clinton through obama.
A good nail for their coffin would be the reversal of Wade vs Roe.
That’s when conservatism, the ideological purity party, had started to become selfish.
A war started without a commitment to a post-conquest reconstruction plan, a commitment of a kind that characterized earlier USA war efforts, was a war run by fools.
If there had been no vacuum for the Cronkites of the world, they could not have bid to fill it.
