Watch: Officer fires through window in Las Vegas car chase An officer in Las Vegas fired through a window in a dramatic high-speed car chase last Wednesday.

The police unit released the video on Monday which showed dramatic body camera footage of an officer at the wheel, grabbing his gun, and peppering his windhsield with bullets to stop the suspect from getting away.

The chase and shootout, which occurred July 11, came after officers responded to an attempted murder call, police said.

Another police car joined the chase but was shot at by the suspects a number of times. Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Sheriff Tim Kelly said in a statement that the second officer’s car was hit by bullets at least twice, forcing him to abandon the chase.

He added that during the pursuit, the two suspects, Fidel Miranda, 23, and 30-year-old Rene Nunez, fired 34 shots at officers and hit several marked police vehicles.

One suspect was killed during the pursuit, while the other was left wounded.

“You’ve never done that before to see how your car tracks?”

Not while rapid-firing through the windshield at a speeding car on a contested urban road!

“Sometimes when people are firing weapons in public and driving recklessly, you have to try to put an end to it any way you can.”

Now you are seeing how out of line the cop waa.

This guy performed all this with rounds being fired at his vehicle/him.

He did a great job staying on their tail, and persisting until they were neutralized.

Instead of getting kudos for doing this without any more civilians getting hurt, folks jump in to attack him.

You’re right. The insanity of this mindset is off the scale!

This cop is in trouble. He endangered a lot of people’s lives.

I doubt it. I think LVPD may have to pay for a vehicle damage for a sideswipe at an intersection. This was a totally justified pursuit.

You are thinking of all the worse case scenarios from the officer’s responsibility point of view. it still hasn’t dawned on you, that there was no negative affect on the public.

You don’t give one hoot about who those perps kill in a cross-walk over the next few miles.

You don’t give one hoot about the family car they could impact at any moment.

This officer made a reasoned judgement to take his hands off the wheel for a few moments, while he tried to put this situation to an end.

Did his car go out of control? Did it even come close to it? Did it even swerve at all? No, no, and no!

Let’s deal with reality here.

When the officer went through intersections he did so in a safe manner. He tried to keep his negative actions to a minimum.

This is a law and order forum. If you can’t handle things like this, and think folks who defend officers are wrong, then perhaps you’re in the wrong place.

I’m sure the folks at the network sites will join you in railing on the cops. There’s always DemocratUnderground too.

See ya...

Lucky the cop didn’t shoot innocents!

Negligent behavior is still negligent, even if he got lucky and didn't harm anyone. It upgrades to worse consequences if he does hit anyone, but I think he should face some consequences for firing the way that he was.

He was vulnerable while he loaded the second clip.

Watching close, the suspect driver exits the vehicle and runs up the stairs to what appears to be a possible school. The suspect passenger then attempts to move into the drivers seat then the cops exits his vehicle and opens up on that driver.

It was while the suspect passenger was moving into the drivers seat when the cop reloaded...

Sorry to break this to you...

Allowing people to get away, who are endangering others is also negligent behavior.

Who knows how many would have died, if that officer didn’t put an end to the chase when he did?

“Oh yeah..., never thought of that.”

On a slightly different tangent - There must be an awful lot of VERY UPSET LAWYERS in Las Vegas.
It seems that no bystanders were hurt, etc.
WHO CAN WE SUE? wail the lawyers.
THIS IS NOT WHAT JUSTICE LOOKS LIKE!!
. continuing .
This cop took an enormous risk. For those who object to what he did: Do you want someone to second-guess how you do your job? IMO we need cops like this.
Or would you rather have weenie cops who are only worried about showing up safe at the next barbecue?
Given the story in print and the video I rate this officer as a full-blooded hero.

Note, not one word of praise for the officer sticking with it while under fire.

Nope, all they can see is that terrible officer putting everyone in danger.

Not one word about the perps putting everyone in danger.

Good grief.

You have better eyes than I do. They don’t mess around in LV. OJ got some serious time for his transgressions.

How do you justify endangering people with all the stray bullets?

From the perps?

I don’t.

Have you said you appreciate this ended before innocent life was taken?

Have you praised the officer for taking the actions he did while under fire himself?

Have you taken to task the perps for driving this way in the first place?

Have you taken the perps to task for firing over thirty shots at officers?

How do I justify the officer’s actions?

Well, it turned out he took the bad guys off the street without them harming anyone else.

Sorry you don’t have the tools to grasp that.

“GLOCK 31 is chambered in .357,”

It is chambered in .357 Sig, not regular .357. Regular .357 is a rimmed cartridge which will only work in a revolver. As I mentioned earlier, the .357 Sig is a necked down .40 S&W (10mm) rimless case that holds a .357 dia. bullet.

Check it out:

I was in a sedan with windows rolled up and my idiot brother decides to fire a 38 S&W Special out his side (window down) at a target. Mild concussion and ears ringing for 15 minutes afterwards. The cop must have been deaf at the end of the chase.
