Remember, all the Prog media sources said that if Concealed Carry permits were issued, there would be gunfights every single day over parking places. Look how long they had to wait before they finally got one! I suspect there is more to the story here. Dindu Nuffin probably pulled his first.

I watched the video 5x, the victim (shooter) was well within his RIGHTS under FL law.

The perhaps-intended consequence of the last few years of race-baiting. This is how the CW starts...one little thing at a time.

Is this another misuse of the term “stand your ground”? AKA among the anti gun crowd as shoot who you want in FL.

‘Stand your ground’ law protects shooter in deadly fight over parking space

Somehow this just doesn't sound right to me.

I believe in stand your ground, but the video looks a lot more like murder or at best manslaughter.

The guy is assaulted and pushed to the ground. The assailant backs away. At that point in time the victim pulls his weapon and fires. All he needed to do at that point was wait for the cops. I saw no reason to fire. The video looks more like vengeance.

I cannot know the whole story, but this does not look justified.

So the guy provoked the whole incident by parking in a handicapped parking space with out a permit. When he gets into an argument with someone about parking in a handicapped space, the person complaining about the illegally parked vehicle knocks down the man who parked the car. That man then shoots the person who knocked him down. Wow, that sure is low standards for self defense. The guy who hit him was retreating.

SYG is the right call. I’m grateful for this law in FLA. That jerk could have killed that man pushing him so hard like that.

maybe these thugs will think twice about attacking people in the future, for fear they will lose their lives.

White guy was within his rights to argue with the lazy, arrogant skank who parked in the handicapped spot.

Black guy was within his rights to tell the white guy to lay off his girlfriend/ho/baby mama.

Black guy was NOT within his rights to shove the white guy. That's assault and battery.

White guy's draw-and-fire response was extreme, but justifiable.

Now baby mama and her three welfare spawn have a disposal problem.

The certified nursing assistant told the newspaper she parked in the handicap spot because the parking lot was packed. Surveillance video, however, showed several open parking spaces in front of the store prior to the deadly shooting.

Bet she doesn't do that again.

I still see no mention of who here was HANDICAPPED.

Was white man just a do-gooder, or did he need that space?

Recap:
Woman in car with 2 small children does not have handicap permit but pulls into a handicap parking spot.
Man verbally confronts her.
Woman’s boyfriend exits the store and heads toward the scene.
Woman exits the vehicle, arguing with the man.
Woman’s boyfriend shoves the man to the ground.
The man draws his gun.
The woman’s boyfriend freezes.
The man shoots him.
The man staggers back to the store and subsequently dies.

What is not apparent is if the man (shooter) perceived any continued threat when he fired his gun. It is possible the woman’s boyfriend made a move such as reaching or something similar that demonstrated he was not backing down. However, I did not see evidence of this on the video.

Since I’m not directly involved, and it is a judgment call, I’ll defer to law enforcement. But I can definitely see a case for a wrongful death civil suit as well.

How could the woman or her boyfriend have avoided his death?

She could have accepted the fact she was in the wrong over the parking spot and moved her car.

The boyfriend could have refrained from initiating physical contact (assault) with the man.

There isn't a stronger supporter of 2nd Amendment rights or of the right of self defense than me but that film doesn't look good at all to me.It's hard for me to imagine how the shooter was justified in doing what he did.

This is a very close case as to whether the shooter committed a crime. First, the “Stand Your Ground Law” stuff is a bunch of crap. SYGround simply eliminated the common law requirement that, if you are outside of your home, you make an attempt to retreat from a confrontation before using deadly force. The shooter was attacked by the deceased and knocked to the ground. Simply put, SYGround laws have nothing to do with this case. The issue in this case is whether the shooter actually feared that he would suffer serious bodily injury or death if he did not shoot. Its a close case: From the shooter’s perspective: a) he was violently attacked; b) the attacker appears to reach in his waistband; c) the girlfriend of the attacker got out of her car and appeared to go towards the shooter on the ground before he shot. I would need to know what the shooter told the cops as to why he shot. Was he disoriented from hitting the ground? Did he think the girlfriend was going to jump him while he was on the ground and that the deceased might come back? From his angle on the ground, did he fear that the deceased might have a gun or weapon? Did the deceased say something like: “I’m coming back to get you”?

After the initial push that sent the man to the ground, the threat continued because the black guy took at least one more step, more like 2, towards him while he was on the ground. Watch the tape for yourself. In fact, he appears to adjust his shorts which is what he did just prior to the first assault. As if he’s going to do more.

Shooting justified.
