This is bad all the way around. Disney will further erode FOX and consumers will now have even fewer competitors. Those who have commented in the past few days about a la carte cable choices? Slim to none, and slim is now leaving town.

Anti-Trust laws, what a concept.

I think media consolidation is an evil thing.

All ickiness and Disney SJWing aside...

I wonder if they’ll move Star Wars back under the Fox banner and put the 20th century fanfare back in front of it...

When does the competition end. How long before there is one entertainment company? Crwativity has ended in the entertainment industry, and its been replaced by just buying competitors and everyone producing copies of what each other is doing.

There was a lot of chatter that some investors were prepared to bankroll a new news network during the campaign with a conservative slant. Given the milquetoast nature of Fox combined with the influence of Disney, I would say there will be renewed interest in such a network that would most certainly find success.

Will they have any control? This will lead to personalities being fired.

"Because this company is now in the hands of CCA -- the Communication Corporation of America. There's a new Chairman of the Board, a man called Frank Hackett, sitting in Mr. Ruddy's office on the 20th floor. And when the 12th largest company in the world controls the most awesome g__d___ propaganda force in the whole godless world, who knows what s___ will be peddled for truth on this network."

IMHO this was the most important scene in the movie "Network", and is even more relevant today.

Wonder if this will give Disney/ABC an opportunity to cancel “Last Man Standing” again?

The deal does NOT include FNC and FBN - only the “entertainment” business units.

NewsMax? In any case, I hope whatever Fox news becomes it can recapture it's bearings. They sure have drifted recently.

In reality, only congress has the power to break up a trust using the antitrust laws. That being said, congress is owned by the big congloms. Looks like Disney will have the power to regulate what we the people want to watch with very little competition.

F.A.Hayak has a lot to say about this.

"I think media consolidation is an evil thing."

My knee jerk reaction is that M&A activity hurts competition and job growth. Yet I have been flamed for that position under the argument that creation of immense wealth and power in the hands of a few is the ultimate achievement of the constitutional guarantee of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
