Uproar as politician praises white Australia policy, urges Muslim ban
The Japan Times ^ | 08/15/18

An Australian politician was widely condemned Wednesday after demanding “a final solution” to immigration and calling for a return to the white Australia policy which favors “European Christians.”

Queensland Sen. Fraser Anning stunned lawmakers when he invoked during his maiden speech the infamous Nazi phrase used under Adolf Hitler in reference to annihilating Jewish people from Europe.

He also sparked widespread opposition by calling for a ban on Muslim migrants and defending the race-based white Australia immigration policy which was in place for seven decades from 1901.

“We as a nation are entitled to insist that those who are allowed to come here predominantly reflect the historic European-Christian composition of Australian society,” Anning, formerly of the populist One Nation Party and now with the Katter Australian Party, told the upper house Senate late Tuesday

“Those who come here need to assimilate and integrate.”

He added that “ethnocultural diversity . . . has been allowed to rise to dangerous levels in many suburbs.”

“In direct response, self-segregation, including white flight from poorer inner-urban areas, has become the norm.”

The Queenslander called for migration numbers to be slashed, and a ban on Muslims, justifying his call by saying they had “consistently shown to be the least able to assimilate and integrate.”

“While all Muslims are not terrorists, certainly all terrorists these days are Muslims, so why would anyone want to bring more of them here?”

Immigration remains a hot button issue in Australia, amid concern about jobs and overcrowding in major cities.

Data released last month showed migration numbers hit a 10-year low last year, with the annual intake falling by 20,000 to 162,000 as vetting procedures were tightened.

Anning’s comments sparked a backlash from all sides of politics, led by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull who emphasized Australia is one of the most successful multicultural societies in the world.

“So we reject, we condemn racism in any form, and the remarks by Sen. Anning are justly condemned and rejected by us all,” he said.

Labor opposition leader Bill Shorten called the speech “a low point for our parliament,” while independent Sen. Derryn Hinch said there “was hardly a group of Australians he did not offend unless you were very close to being a member of the Ku Klux Klan.”

Even Pauline Hanson, who runs One Nation on a platform of zero-net migration and opposition to Islam, said Anning went too far.

“You may have your grievances on what Fraser Anning has said, don’t direct them at me,” she added. “It’s got nothing to do with me.”

Despite the criticism, Anning was unrepentant Wednesday and claimed he did not know the connection between the phrase “final solution” and Nazi Germany.

“I don’t regret anything, I am not going to apologize or regret anything that I say,” he said.

OK, using the phrase “final solution” in ths context isn’t exactly the best PR move, but I can’t find any fault with anything else Senator Anning has to say.

It’s refreshing to know that some politicians say what they mean and will not back down when met with criticism. We could sure use them in the USA - a lot of them!

Curious what an honest poll of their people would show.

Just because this policy converted a colony of criminal convicts into one of the leading nations of the world in less than 200 years is no reason to think it worked. < / sarcasm >

There is nothing wrong with countries that have a majority of Europeans having immigration policies that favor Europeans.

Does a nation want social harmony, or not?

I travel to East Asia often.

Koreans know their problems with labor shortages, aging population, etc...(the same phony excuses we also get) but not one Korean I know proposes immigration as a solution. Their response is always - We are already a crowded country, and we are Korean, they would not fit in - it would only cause strife.

The man speaks truth.

Only someone completely brainwashed and deluded would wish muslims on his homeland. Never in history have muslims been anything but a scourge. Look at Sweden, a total preventable nightmare, but now, and for decades to come, a Nordic sh*thole.

Twisted sisters.

Immigration is basically the importing of terrorists.

Here's the right way to approach this:

1) Are there "black countries", meaning, countries where the political system and the culture favor and support Sub-Saharan African people and disadvantage others?

2) Are there "Asian" countries, where the political system and the culture favor and support Asians and disadvantage others?

3) Are there "Arab" countries?

4) Is there a Jewish country?

So, on to the question at hand: Is Australia a "white country"? Are there any "white countries", where the political system and culture favor and support whites and disadvantage others? If there are, what's wrong with that?

He’s right, but will be shot down, and Australia will slowly become muzz, and return to the savagery it was before the Brits landed.

No, you're wrong.

Immigration is the process of changing the nature of a society and its political system and culture.

Does anyone say Nigeria is "too black"? Does anyone say Korea is "too Asian"?

Does anyone in Japan say, "we need immigrants?"

No, of course they don't.

The Australian policy was extremely successful.

Australia is an incredibly peaceful and law abiding society.

Unfortunately, it has become very socialist since the immigration policy was changed.
