WilmingtonPD twitter ^ | September 15, 2018

Watching Fox News. Just had a live interview with Rick Leventhal in Wilmington. Has video of looters (the usual perp types) at a Family Dollar and someone yelled at him "where are the police? Our taxes pay for them?." Leventhal contacted the police and they responded back that it was a "management decision" not to respond (their response was shown on the story)

unfortunately management has asked not to intervene at this time

First, since when do store owners get to decide when the law is enforced? Second, I hope this owner takes a huge hit with his insurance. He had the opportunity to mitigate damages and he passed it up. Let's hope his insurance company is watching.

Some responses to the police Tweet are saying the looters needed supplies. Others are saying “Bullsh*t!”

“””“NEWS ALERT - We are aware of the looting occurring at the Family Dollar Store at 13th & Greenfield Sts, unfortunately management has asked not to intervene at this time.””””

Family Dollar must have some sort of insurance that covers looting.

If so, the insurance company would want to tell Family Dollar to take a hike if they file a claim.

When the Red River had devastating flooding in the Upper Midwest a few years ago, there was no looting. Some stores left their doors unlocked. Customers came and got items they needed, leaving money for the purchases on the cashier's counter.

Actually, it's very easy to predict which neighborhoods will suffer looting. Kodak has actually developed an easy to use scientific instrument to aid law enforcement in probability estimates:

When I heard the report live from Leventhal and after reading the police tweet, I thought “management” was the police department. Another interpretation is it is Family Dollar management asking. It’s unclear from the Tweet which it is. I didn’t hear the part where Leventhal mentions it is the FD management asking police to stay away.

Leventhal just reported it again, saying clearly it was FD who asked the police not to interfere. However, in response, Wilmington officials have extended the curfew hours.

I think I will tell the cop to stand down the next time I am pulled over.

No, our side has to obey the law. Their side gets off and guests on the View.

I will ask Aunt Bea to hand carry a warm apple pie covered with a red checkered cloth over to your jail cell. Yum.

Is Leventhal telling the truth? Never believe any “journalist” or “reporter.”

And is the fire department going to reimburse lost merchandise value in money from the looting? Or just tough luck being caught between the looters and the two bureaus of the government?

I’m sure FD won’t mind if I stop in to pick up a few “free” supplies.

Even with the Koreans arming up, over 2,300 businesses run by Korean business owners were damaged, ransacked and looted during the riots.

The Koreans were clearly caught off guard as were lots of other people.

The link above returns nothing related to the original post here on FR - is there an actual link to the supposed story? If not - I would suggest admins remove this - as the title and description don’t match the link.

Corporate already wrote their stores affected by the storm as a loss.

Small business owners as well if that had a solid policy.

Still bad for precedence since will cause people not to evacuate the next storm; warn the would-be feral and the public before landfall, video tape everything/heat sig, then shoot on sight if necessary.

The link was not available when posted. The link now should be the Tweet from the Wilmington PD:

It’s not a fake story as others are reporting seeing the interview also.
