We attacked the wrong country.
Obamacare tops Iraq as the worst clusterf**k in our history.
One clue is the amount of money our government spends to facilitate the flood. Airlines, phones, camps, giant inflatable Avon boats (not cheap).
It’s organized by our government.
And Cheney was a joke
In all fairness, and to be intellectually honest here -
The VAST majority of Americans, NATO allied nations, AND FReepers were gung-ho for bombing Afghanistan and Iraq after the 9-11 massacre in order to Avenge our murdered Americans.
Very few dared express reservation about invasion of those two countries, lest they be labeled and scorned for being “unpatriotic”.
We’ve all learned that there’s much more than meets the eye regarding: 9-11 events & official narrative, waiting in the wings Patriot Act 1 & 2 - surveillance police state, decades long War-on-Terrorism, Military Industrial Complex $Trillions, nasty Islamic hornets nest, and the overall demoralization of America and it’s people by Machiveillan powers that be.
We’ve got our work cut out for us to MAGA.
So anybody who disagrees with you is spreading nutty conspiracy theories.
Shouldn’t they all be put in reeducation camps too?
Hmm, you have a point, but when it comes to politicians, it’s hard to pick just one.
NOTHING.
Big ego move for Bush, McCain and idiots in our military who wanted more 'General' slots opened up... places to put illegals, and lists of fools willing to pay the retired for 'speeches'... etc.
Horrible waste of time, money, lives, and American dignity...
“And it started with intentional false CIA info, I believe. I think they admitted later to that.”
How did it get forgotten? Back in 2000-2001 there were articles alleging anti-Bush cabals in the CIA and FBI who were conspiring face-to-face and determined to f*** Bush up any way they could.
Then the topic just disappeared.
The lack of a goal and exit strategy was the issue. We did not define victory.
Heck. I have often thought that, but it isn't the way we have ever operated...sometimes to my dismay.
We may be viewed as chumps in that respect by many people and countries, but...one thing is for sure-we aren't the Soviets or other tyrants.
I can live with that.
Agreed...
Agreed...
The Tet Offensive was reported out 180 degrees off the truth.
The hijackers were from Saudi Arabia (15), United Arab Emirates (2), Egypt (1), and Lebanon (1). I don’t see that any were Palestinian. Yemenis were involved in the planning, but we weren’t letting them into the country at the time, so they weren’t among the actual hijackers.
The only positive thing to come out of that debacle was that it made Yeb Bush less popular than a child molester by the time we got to the 2016 primaries.
Sound nutty to me.
Yes.
We all think Barack Obama should be in jail, and for damn good and valid reasons too (and Hillary as well) but who of us thinks that is going to realistically happen?
Things are that way in the world at times.
And I do support invading Iraq. I have believed from day one they were behind the Oklahoma City bombing, and were also harboring and training known terrorists.
In the wake of 9/11, the calculus had changed. I know folks like you feel differently, and I respect that. I see it differently.
Some of us said this at the time. Very few of us survived the mid-2000s purge here over it.
Likewise. Far better had he said "America's decision", etc.
Bush made his decision, not in a vacuum, but with the best timely info and with the concurrence or the consensus of the qualified minds available to him.
Clearly there was intel that Iraq posed a threat to someone, but am not now certain it had a direct role in the murder of our 3000.
And, having onsite experience with our occupation and eventual withdrawal, IMO we missed many opportunities to improve Iraq's quality of life. (Compare, for instance, our post-WWII efforts in Germany and Japan.)
No! No!
Iraq was nothing like Vietnam. Bush did not micro-manage from the Oval Office with someone even remotely as inept as Robert McNamera. We had about 4,500 casualties in Iraq. We had close to 70,000 in Vietnam. Bush did fight to win. While his first war planner didn’t pull off the win, Bush did a mid-course correction that achieved the job.
As for Obama, he came very close to losing Iraq already, with two incredibly inept moves.
1. He pulled out all of our troops on a whim creating a vacuum.
2. He armed and funded al Qaeda which quickly became in part, ISIS. Then ISIS walked into Iraq almost unopposed.
