More Harvard, Yale freshmen identify as LGBTQ than as conservative, surveys find

More freshmen at both Harvard and Yale identify as LGBTQ than as politically conservative, according to surveys published by the universities’ student newspapers.

According to Yale Daily News’ “Class of 2022: By the Numbers,” approximately 23 percent of the freshman class identify somewhere along the LGBTQ spectrum. This is up from 21 percent last year and 15 percent in 2016, according to the paper.

At Harvard, a similar student survey in the Harvard Crimson found that more than 18 percent of the freshman class identify as something other than straight. This number has increased every year since 2014, when less than 10 percent of that year’s freshman class identified as nonheterosexual.

Both surveys asked students a wide variety of questions, ranging from their religious affiliation to their birth order. When it comes to political orientation, both Ivy League universities leaned heavily to the left.

Nearly three-quarters of Yale freshmen described themselves as “somewhat” or “very liberal,” while just 10 percent identified as “somewhat” or “very conservative.” The numbers at Harvard were similar, with approximately 64 percent of freshmen respondents identifying as liberal and 12 percent as conservative.

Does anyone actually believe these results? 23%??? LOL, that’s absurd.

If you asked me if I was white, black, brown or a pink flamingo.... I’d answer the latter because...that’s just how I roll. And I was especially likely to being controversial when I was younger...just because it was funny. And some folks didn’t appreciate my sense of humor...

I don’t believe this for a minute. I suspect that many thought it would be funny to identify that way, or they decided to respond in ‘solidarity’ with their confused brethren. The percentage of actual people claiming ‘transgender’ in our general population is less than 1/10 of 1%. Period.

Oh, and gay/lesbian in the population is around 3%. These people obviously want street cred with their peers.

When I was a Freshman identifying as a Feminist and going to protest could get you a date with a hot chick.

How is identifying as LGBTQ going to get you a date with a hot chick?

More Yalies and Harvardians identify as mentally ill than as Conservative.

Says something about the families of the ‘elite’ as well about the schools.

Don’t many universities have an LGBT-related checkbox on applications, universities arguably accepting more LGBT students in name of diversity?

If such is the case, then pro-LGBT mentality of “best” students in country is not surprising.

“LUGS - Lesbians Until Graduation”

According to princess riverdawg, it was not uncommon among some of her acquaintances in college to “present” as bi- or even lesbian among friends, while secretly dating guys. After graduation, there was no social pressure to continue the ruse, and many of them are now engaged or married to a guy.

So few identify with CJNMF orientation (Christian, Jew, Normal, Male, Female). They do not “look” like America.

Those colleges are self selecting for these traits. Perhaps it’s good to have the group that identifies that way isolated in those nut houses. The other schools have a better chance of actually focusing on teaching subject matter that leads to proficiency & job prospects.

People’s sexual preferences are their choice, their private choice. When those preferences are used as a political tool or a club to silence differing opinions it stops being OK.

“””approximately 23 percent of the freshman class identify somewhere along the LGBTQ spectrum”””

This seems to be the only aspect of the public and private school system is working. In but a few years the K-12 school system has turned the non-heterosexual population from a negligible number to 23%.

Meanwhile, K-12 school system produces graduates who have trouble reading. And if they can’t read, they cannot understand that history has a way of repeating itself.

There are plenty Of Ivy League conservatives like me. (I do not refer to Brown, Cornell , etc. Maybe their rules are different.)

At the moment however the only way to get into Yale, Princeton, or Harvard is to be "oppressed," "of color," and, ideally, have a sexuality issue.

All undergrads speak of their oppression. It is the fashion of the day.

That is what these schools are looking for rather than intelligence, analytical skills, creativity, etc.

Membership in 4H or Future Farmers of America is supposedly a negative factor in Harvard admissions ...

If they changed that it might mean more non-LGBTQ students ...

... or it might give a whole new meaning to "sodomy" in the Ivy League ...
