I think the left is taking the future replacement appointment of RBG into account with their present tantrum. They MUST stop this particular conservative appointment. They are terrified that there will be another conservative who will replace RBG.
If it happens in the next two years, the Democrats will freeze her and argue that advances in cryogenics offer hope for a full recovery, thus requiring that she be deemed a still-sitting member of the court. Distinguished scientists from across academe will support this view, as will all leftist interest groups. They will challenge her living will and DNR instructions in court. This position will be maintained until Democrats again control the White House and Senate, at which time they will pull the plug on RBG and move on.
I hope RBG will choose to avoid this macabre fate and will gracefully retire, soon. I wish her a long and happy retirement.
