In the final stretch of a tight Senate race in increasingly red Missouri, Sen. Claire McCaskill turned against her own party in a new campaign radio ad that declares she is “not one of those crazy Democrats.”
The unusual message has been hitting the airwaves in central Missouri for about a week, and it debuted as Republican challenger Josh Hawley’s internal campaign polls showed him taking a 7-percentage-point lead in a race that for months has been a dead heat.

Compared to her democrat contemporaries, she comes across as relatively moderate and has often made statements counter to their positions.

But statements and votes are two different actions and IIRC, she votes pretty much according to the dictates of party leaders. She’s still Shumer’s gal, no matter how she spins it.
If Claire McCaskill doesn’t understand that as in playing chess and checkers the majority in Congress is what matters... she doesn’t understand. The democrats made it personal when they exclusively courted the two tailed lunatic fringe, and special interest groups and likened the rest of the bell curve to a basket of deplorables.
