Opioid Trafficking Is Domestic Terrorism
RCP ^ | Sara Carter

America is facing a drug crisis unlike anything it has ever seen before. On average from 1999 to 2016, 115 people died every day from opioid overdoses across the nation — with the total annual figure peaking at more than 49,000 in 2017. If this were a disease or a plague, America would be in a panic, schools would close, and those affected would be in quarantine.

A new synthetic opiate called fentanyl is responsible for much of this carnage. One of the deadliest drugs to ever plague our streets, just 2 milligrams of fentanyl can kill a grown man — making it more dangerous than anthrax. Many times, users have no idea that these synthetic opioids are being laced into marijuana, heroin, and pills that appear to be legitimate prescription medications. In Ohio, roughly 50 percent of the pills being sold on the streets are fakes with a fentanyl and heroin mix. Even though the pills look legitimate, a single one can be lethal. There are no second chances.

*snip*

The groups responsible for bringing these drugs into our country are some of the deadliest and most brutal gangsters to ever operate inside and outside America. Violent marauders like the Sinaloa Cartel, Jalisco Neuva Generacion and the armed street gangs they hire, including MS-13, are moving contraband at a constant rate. Translated, the motto of MS-13 is “kill, steal, rape, control.”

*snip*

There is a simple way to fight the daunting criminal networks working against America: a border wall. Not a barrier to stop legal immigrants, but a wall to prevent horrific substances and brutal killers from entering our country. It would be a great start to a long fight to bring down that daily opioid death toll.

If I could rule this country by edict the trafficking of certain drugs would have a mandatory death sentence...first offense!

I really can’t get concerned when junkies die from overdoses. Junkies are arguably the most useless human beings on the planet. They steal they lie. Their only concern is keeping high. No one forced these them to become junkies. It’s a path they chose knowing what inevitably lies at the end of it. To hell with them

Yes. Everything anti-American is a leftist playbook policy initiative. I happened onto a paid documentary one late night where they went through the Margaret Sanger plans which centered around destroying the nuclear family with the male head of household. Divorce, ease of women making a living, removal of stigma of broken home, abortions, letting school system bring up and discipline children,no parents at home afer school and especially weakened men because they held America together and kept family’s religion going. Wow.

Now Alinsky and Communist China undermining includes this plus drugs ruining lives, illegal aliens costing millions a month nationwide in perpetual welfare, God removed from public square and school buildings, no stigma to fatherless welfare children to never married mothers, less restrictions on abortions, denigration of anything male, rampant crime and the class envy that promotes socialism-—are all everyday life. Sanger,Alinsky and the early Chicoms would be delighted with today’s America and the Dems.

You have a 40 year old view of the problem with junkies shooting up in dark alleys in cities.

Today, it’s your neighbor’s clean suburban 17 year old kid at a party dying from his or her first or second time taking pills. It’s the same kid who managed to escape death for a while but got hooked, got help, got clean, but had a single relapse at age 22. It’s the kids who got a severe sports injury and got addicted to the opiod pain killers prescribed by the doctor. It’s the student taking Xanax to cope with stress during finals.

You really owe it to yourself to learn about this problem.

It is an old ploy. Profitable too.

But we wouldn’t be so vulnerable with a stronger culture. Too many opiods through our medical system. Too much veneration of drugs in our counterculture-first culture.

Good post. Many people have no idea what the new opioid crisis is all about.

Our own Rush Limbaugh had severe pain years ago and had an addiction problem.

Someone said on a radio segment that after a stay in the hospital they were told to sign for an opioid pain killer. They said I don’t want to take this. I’ll try just Advil and see if I can make it.
They were told “I will not agree to let you be discharged unless you agree to sign up for taking the prescription.”

I know the family MDs now have reversed old ways and now try to convince patients to try aspirin and Motrin, etc. but this is a twist to have hospital try to get you on the stuff.

There are three drugs where if someone put a gun to my temple and told me to take them, I’d say no, pull the trigger; Heroin (and now the synthetics that are worse), meth, and crack. In that order.

But I have learned over time how addicting these things are. Some of them will make you crave them for much of a lifetime after just one use, or so I’ve been told.

But young people, despite efforts to educate, haven’t learned what a threat it is, and what it will turn you into. They don’t know the difference between some supposed recreational or party drugs and the ones that are instant puppet masters. Like ProtectOurFreedom said, naive kids get a little group influence put on them at a party or whatever and have no clue what they’re in for.

The real problem is the people profiteering on death and misery. How are they not like terrorists? The only difference I would say is that a real terrorist wants to inflict maximum psychological harm, where-as a dealer/distributor just doesn’t care about anyone and tells themself that if people are stupid enough to take it, then they’re going to make a buck off them, or someone else will. These people wont stop until they see other’s frying for it, and even then... who knows

“It’s the student taking Xanax to cope with stress during finals.”

Really? What’s OK with you??

Finals aren’t that stressful. Anyone thinking narcotics is the answer needs to fail out of college.

You are right.

A junkie, is a junkie and it does not matter how they got hooked on drugs.

The crackhead and the methhead are the same as a person that is addicted to pain pills.

Thanks. As you might tell, I personally know of lots of families touched by loss of their kids.

One of the problems is Baby Boomers get a prescription for Vicodin or some other opiod and, when they get it home, say “I’m not touching that stuff. I’ll use Advil instead.” Then the bottle of opioids stays in the medicine cabinet until the kids find it who either use it or sell it.

A friend of my son’s was using his Dad’s medication for Stage 4 cancer until they begin asking “Why are my pills running out so quickly?”

No one held these "victims" down and forced the needle into their arms. They made a CHOICE to use drugs. Choices have consequences. They have chosen (and will continue to choose) badly.

Executing dealers, from street level to kingpin would help immensely.

Sounds like a self curing problem to me. The problem is the solution.

What kind of creature steals medicine that alleviates the pain of a Stage 4 cancer in a family member?

The sanctimony is strong in this one. You think 17 yo s don’t know what addiction is? And that they don’t know where it leads? I watched a friends kid go down that path. They spent tens of thousands trying to get him clean. And it worked. For a while. He’d be weaned from the physical dependence, but he would just rather be high than any thing else. And back he’d go. Last I heard they gave up on him. It wasn’t the fault of dealers or drugs. It was a conscious bad decision that the only thing that mattered to him was being high.

A guy on my senior volleyball team now has custody of his granddaughter because his daughter is a heroine addict.

Another friend and his wife are adopting the wife's grandson because the parents are both addicts.

About 5 years ago the son of another guy I know was arrested for running a meth lab out of a cheap motel room. He did two years in jail......

There definitely is an epidemic growing in this country. The question is, how do you deal with it effectively? We've been fighting a war on drugs for decades and it's just getting worse. As long as there is a demand, the traffickers will find a way to get the crap into this country..........
