Occam’s Razor: AM radio is finally dying.
I don’t think it’s dying, but it can’t generate the revenues to support these enormous contracts for syndicated hosts. In many places it’s migrating back to the way it was in the pre-Limbaugh days, with talk radio and news dominating the format and all the talk radio hosts being local personalities.
I think radio is being impacted by the cord cutting that TV is suffering.
I can’t listen to Rush during work hours. And during the commute hours I can catch a few minutes of a show. But, if you put it on Podcast, I can listen to it whenever and I can binge listen if that suits me better.
And, I don’t think I have Laura OTA in this area. Give me a podcast, and I can listen. Drive up her numbers.
