The recount in Florida has put the states election machinery to the test, and it has failed miserably: Almost 3,000 votes have vanished, the New York Times reported, while Florida recounts three state and three local elections that have yet to be called.
The Florida secretary of state reported 900 fewer votes than were tallied originally, and that number is expected to balloon by 2,000 more votes when results from Broward County are reported. Although this number of votes would not necessarily swing the election from one candidate to another, its certainly enough to cause concern.
For example, Palm Beach SOE -Bucher said there may be boxes of uncounted ballots and dozens of precincts missing a significant number of votes in the recount. Bucher said this is due to a ballot-scanning machine that has become overworked and overheated.
Hillsborough and Miami-Dade County were also missing around 850 votes and 500 votes, respectively. Florida officials are claiming this is typical of a recount, but experts disagree.
It is expected that as each set of results are due, the numbers will fluctuate some, Sarah W. Revell, a spokesperson for the Florida secretary of state told the Times. It is not indicative of a problem.
E. John Sebes, founder of the non-profit Open Source Election Technology countered, telling the Times, This is a big deal. If you have an election margin of 0.21 percent and a variance of 0.12 percent, the variance of your machine count is half the margin you are trying to correct. Thats kooky.
The Senate race in Florida between Bill Nelson and Governor Rick Scott, will get a hand ... This will be the first statewide hand recount in Floridas history. But while Nelson may gain a few votes, he is not expected to take the lead.

Thats good to know.
“This will be the first statewide hand recount in Floridas history.”
Errrr, wasn’t the Presidential election of 2000 a “statewide hand recount”?
Note also Hillsborough county puled the same scam as Broward county at the end of the machine recount.
The recount was more favorable to DeSantis than the original count so they didn't report the results on time.
That allowed the first count to remain as the official count.
Are the missing votes all in blue counties? Are they votes that were manufactured, and now that scrutiny is being applied have been destroyed to avoid prosecution? So many questions, with no answers ever coming forth most likely.
don’t vote-counting groups have to be 50/50 Dem/Repub?
I vote that you are correct.
I suspect they were created and tallied without bothering to create an actual ballot. Just padding the totals for the Dems.
It was not statewide because they only sought to ‘cherry pick’ the democrat strongholds.
Once the SOS appealed to the FL Supremes for a statewide recount, and was denied, they lost the legal claim of “count every vote.”
SCOTUS put that to rest.
Dually noted- Hillsborough is Tampa, demrats collude.
It’s Florida Collusion, not Russian Collusion to Steal Elections.
These are probably the ones where the fraud was so apparent that they were shredded, since they didn’t even pass the low standards of the Black Yoda.
Intentional destruction of election fraud evidence is what has transpired.
Snipes: “Those missing ballots are in the building.”The ballots are in the building.”Dem ballots are in the building.” ballots are in the building.”
I bet they are, but they are burnt, flushed, shredded, destroyed, or in embedded in concrete.
Time to pull down the ceiling tiles and rip into the walls.
The building contains other businesses. Search the neighboring Family Dollar store, her cousin likely runs it. Or the neighboring Winn-Dixie Grocery- under the produce racks- with the bananas, just like a true banana republic.

The state legislature can establish an education program that is mandatory. That program can be written and administered so that election judges, vote counters, everybody involved, including elected officials with certain titles have to pass the education program.
oops
That may be a good start. There also needs to be "graduation" requirements, and also serious penalties for failing to properly meet the law. It seems that Florida has election laws, but no penalties for failing to meet them.
But wasn’t the “statewide hand recount” mandated by law because of the less than .25% margin or was that law passed post election 2000?
