The rulebook's details were revealed Thursday night thanks to a Facebook employee who leaked over 1,400 pages of the speech policing rulebook to the Times because he "feared that the company was exercising too much power, with too little oversight — and making too many mistakes."

For anyone to continue to believe in leftism is indicative of extraordinary intellectual stupidity

Descibes most of my extended family. Sadly, even my parents, who really have no excuse to be so willfully ignorant.

So when is Trump going to actually do something?

Yeah. He is Superman, after all.

New Facebook is building a huge data center about 5 miles from our house. Talk about a border wall they look like a military installation.

Yep liberals are allowed to commit hate speech and call people names. But conservatives and libertarians better not.

I can’t take Facebook seriously. A social connection for teeny-boppers. I say “Hi” to a friend once in a while. It’s astonishing to me that people use things like FB to substitute actual, real relationships.

When I feel like it and get the the chance, I’ll sound off on the Restoration of Gospel of Grace and our Free Constitutional Republic. As far as I know, nobody’s kicked me off yet, but I really couldn’t care less if they did. After all, it is private enterprise and they can do whatever the freak they want.

The question is, when is the Right going to generate such widely-used internet means and media impact?

It isn't.

And the reason why is that 'the right', meaning middle class non-activists, are more concerned with providing for their families and living the life that freedom in America guarantees, rather than dramatically standing on soap-boxes screaming in the streets over such-and-such any 'societal insult' ...

The Left has cornered that "Drama" market, and it's pretty strong right now, but things *are* changing ... this year in December, in almost every place I shopped, I was met with a "Merry Christmas" by many of the salespeople upon checkout, with a smile :)

Seems a backlash against the Left and their cultural rules-n-regulations is beginning to take hold. God Bless the American People :)

Yeah, because the Justixe Department requires Superman to file Antitrust lawsuits, and only a Supernero can issue an Executive order.

As powerful as the presidency is, Trump is only one man. He’s not an omnipotent emperor, and can’t fix the world all by himself.

If we’re going to fault him, let’s fault him for not fixing things that are unquestionably within his purview.

Neither of those things are outside his authority as president.

It’s time the government look into these companies deeper.

“Blacks are not STUPID ENOUGH to...”

_____________________________________________

I love free speech and you should be free to say whatever...

However, the above statement is absolutely insulting to Blacks or anyone, group or class.

When you state “So and So” are not STUPID ENOUGH to... Then this suggests there are things where they are plenty stupid enough.

How do you feel when I say, BobL is not stupid enough to... ?

Neither of those things are outside his authority as president.

There are a great many things that are not outside the reach of presidential power, but many of those things can (and are) considered extra-presidential.

Sure, the President can file an antitrust lawsuit against the biggest internet behemoths, and he could write an executive order banning such companies from censoring political speech and opinion, but should he?

I would argue that bringing suit against those malefactors is the job of the US Attorney General. Investigating such malfeasance is the job of Congress, who should also craft laws making such practices illegal. Other departments, such as the FCC, FTC, and others, also have a role to play in this, as do the courts.

A prudent president does not over-extend the natural reach of his office, nor should he bypass or usurp the rightful authority of other sectors of the government. We citizens should make our first appeals for redress to the proper authorities - not instantly jump the chain of command to the very top.

To do so, puts our president in the position of a monarch, and disregards the basic system of government we conservatives claim to revere and cherish.

Facebook cannot guarantee 1st amendment rights. It has no obligation to do so. Its not a government agency.

However facebook can be treated as a monopoly and be broken up or “regulated.”

IMHO, facebook is doomed already.

1400 pages of rules?? Thought it’d be simply progressive=good, anything outside that=bad. Take care of it however you feel like.

I am going to jump in.

I do not see that being the case.

I have seen lots of people use that usage of the word stupid.

I do however see here a hypersensitivity to using the word black and the word stupid in the same sentence.

We dumped using Facebook. It can go to hell. We do not use any of the other social media sites either. It is the phone or email or too hell with it. I am not using these scum’s services and supporting their bias.

They use keywords and ignore context.

You used “blacks” “stupid”.

You banned!

I get your point...but context still matters I think. In this case, it was something like “Blacks aren’t stupid enough to start a race war, just because the Democrats want them to.” I guess in that case, it was a mild form of racism...but wow, talk about eggshells. I do think people here would not take it as racism.

Agreed, but Patriots getting a Computer Science or Engineering or Journalism degree in college in their early 20's and starting a Google or Facebook or a Nation-Wide Media Network isn't dramatically standing on soap-boxes screaming in the streets over such-and-such any 'societal insult'.

It IS providing for their families and living the life that freedom in America guarantees while at the same time providing a platform of freedom of speech for the Right and maybe if enough Patriots did that, even taking over the Establishment at some point for the Right and America.

The Right, especially the Christian Right, needs to take advantage of Free Market opportunities which allow them to provide for their families while providing alternatives to Patriots.

I am so tired of racism. The natural tendency is to avoid the topic/confrontation.

But logically, it is best to get it out in the open and hash it out. It will not be pleasant but like all good fights, worth it in the end...……………………...
