They will appeal it.
Its an 8 point win and Minnesota doesnt use the wacky Kalifornia mail in ballot system.
I have some boxes of ballots I forgot in the trunk of my car
Win them back, GOP! Represent the people.
Glad to hear it, Democrats will push to implement it, can’t win without it.
Seems like a reasonable reaction to me.
Legal Marijuana Now Party is a major party after securing more than 5% of votes in a statewide election in November.
Ah, I smell desperate. And I showered I swear!! :)
I just want to WIN and win BIG at the national level in 2020.
I don’t believe in jinxes so i will say I hope the big guy carries a lot of folks in with him.
The RIGHT folks.
C’s, not just R’s!!!
Cause R doesn’t mean a heck of a whole lot anymore.
This will almost certainly make national news like when a Dem picks up a state legislative seat in a special election...
Super news! Very glad to hear for my neighbors to the west.
LOL
Hmmm? Obviously haven’t counted all those Democrat *Harvested* votes yet.
Yep, CNN, MSNBC, the Washington Compost and the Hill of trash will get right on that.
Interestingly enough, I dont see several of the concerned Freepers either. They usually post a breaking news story touting the latest Democrat special election win, but nothing on this.
I wonder why?
Could it be the marijuana?
I had my doubts about this one.
It wasn’t that Rarick wasn’t a good enough campaigner with a good conservative record. The Dems have had a dynasty up there with the Lourey name - at least 20 years of it. Before that, the seat was held by another Democrat.
Carlton County is in the district too. Very blue collar, very pro-labor. I was fearful that the Dems would run up some really really strong number there and in the small part of St Louis County in the district.
My best guess is that many parts of that district haven’t had a GOP state senator in at least 40 years.
After the drubbing the GOP took last November, this is a bit of much needed good news.
Ballot harvesting by the dems like they did in California and literally steal elections.
Not so fast..
many precincts up there are mail in only.
https://www.sos.state.mn.us/elections-voting/other-ways-to-vote/cities-and-towns-that-vote-by-mail/
we register to vote in MN.
But we don’t declare party.. So they don’t really know who’s doors to knock on or what kind of vote they might get.
The last elected State Senate Republican from Carlton County (albeit at the time was non-partisan) was apparently in 1942, a Roy Willard Ranum. I could not confirm the party or caucus of his successor in 1946. I excluded one Henry Mattson, who apparently switched to the Conservative caucus for the final two years of his term in 1953. Otherwise, it’s all been Non-Partisan Liberal caucus members or DFLers until this special election.
Maybe the Kalifornia debacle opened some eyes.
