One of the most memorable moments of Donald Trump’s presidency is sure to be his 2019 State of the Union line denouncing socialism. “Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country,” said Trump. “Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country.”
It was a revealing, signature moment for President Trump, but it was also a revealing, signature moment for the Democratic Party.
To their credit, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer applauded, as did a decent number of Democrats. Of course, they didn’t exactly get out the poms-poms. Nancy clapped lightly from her seat. Still, the fact that they displayed approval at all surprised me. It also confused me — for this reason: If they don’t want America to become a socialist country, then why aren’t they doing more to spare their Democratic Party from socialism?
As a case in point, look no further than the reactions of two Democratic Party stars who proudly carry the socialist banner. Every camera in that chamber caught an agitated Bernie Sanders visibly uncomfortable with Trump’s rebuke of socialism. Bernie looked like he was itching to leap to his feet and condemn Trump as a capitalist reptile and enemy of the Proletariat.
Likewise uneasy, sitting there stone-faced, was Miss Socialist USA, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, backed by a Twitter army of the largest array of socialist geeks since Eugene Debs. She is one of many members of the Democratic Socialists of America, the self-described “largest socialist organization in the United States,” elected in November 2018.

Chuck and Nancy aren’t in control anymore.

I think Chuck and Nancy have a relationship to the lunatic fringe like AOC which is not so different from China’s relationship to North Korea before Trump (hopefully) disrupted it.
The RATS see socialism as the vehicle to their ultimate goal, power and control. They do NOT care how much damage they inflict on the country and its people in the process....
I think Trump added fuel to the fire by showing the radical Democrat young guns that Chuck and Nancy were brain addled fossils in their response to his wall speech.
I hate the thought of the weak minded sheeple in America that are being hypnotized by the promises of socialism.
Like a cow hiding behind a tree, the ‘Rats stick the word “democratic” in front of Socialsm, making Socialism perfectly fine.
They remind me more of The Umbrella Corp losing control of the T Virus in Racoon City (Resident Evil). The left created the virus and now it has turned against them.

The left has been using “moral” and “moral imperative” a lot lately.
I think it’s a moral imperative to point out how destructive socialism is to a country and its people.
Socialism leads to inflation and bureaucracy, which leads to scarcity of goods, which increases inflation even more, ultimately ending in poverty. Venezuela is the perfect textbook example and the story isn’t over yet.
These kids today didn’t live through the Reagan era (or before). They didn’t see the millions of people clamoring for freedom from Socialism. They are not taught about the Khmer Rouge and the millions that Pol Pot killed. They don’t know about the Gulags in Siberia (or even the camps that exist today in China). What a great moment when the Berlin wall came down. They don’t know that feeling. But there is a reason not even Russia could keep Socialist policies. It’s been tried, and it’s been destructive to all who tried it.
They really can’t even point to the Swedes or Danish etc anymore - all of them have pretty much marginalized their Socialist parties.
And even here in the USA, the Socialists can’t even get it right. They talked about universal healthcare but what did they give us? Mandatory health insurance with no guarantee of actual care! Ridiculous! And predictably what happened...? Insurance prices skyrocketed, the economy slowed to a crawl, and bureaucracies bloated even more. It’s so damn obvious but it needs to be explained to them like schoolchildren.
They used the same sort of fig leaf in Russia, just after the 1917 revolution. Once power had been consolidated, the pretense was dropped and the party was renamed.
Nancy Pelosi is a long time member of the Democratic Socialists of America and in the early 1990’s was a leader of it’s “Progressive Caucus” in the HOR. She is not a Socialist but in fact a full on Communist.
