Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) told Breitbart News Sunday that when former Rep. Paul Ryan was House speaker, he tricked President Donald Trump into believing a spending bill with wall funding could not pass through the House of Representatives.
Congressman Gohmert, a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, told Breitbart News Deputy Political Editor Amanda House that former Speaker Paul Ryan told Trump in the run-up to the December government shutdown battle that a spending bill with wall funding would not pass through the GOP-controlled House.
House Freedom Caucus chairman Mark Meadows (R-NC), a staunch Trump ally, correctly predicted that House Republicans had the votes to pass through the House. The House passed a spending bill with $5.7 billion in wall funding in December with 217 in favor of the legislation.

Hopefully, he no longer believes them.
Did Louie sponsor a bill?
Excuse me? They passed wall funding as a lame duck house.
It was the Senate that wimped out. They did not make the democrat Senators do a classic filibuster to block the bill. They just let them deny cloture.
Same thing the year before, the lockstep Senate blocked the passage and face Trump a bad spending bill.
The only thing worse than a republican is a democrat.
Could Trump REALLY be tricked by the likes of Paul Ryan?
If true that raises disturbing questions.
Lyin’ Ryan was an establishment pawn, he never liked Trump.
Sure, he could have believed Ryan and gien him the benefit of the doubt.
If Gohmert knew Ryan was tricking the President, why didn’t Gohmert let the President know. I am no great fan of Ryan, but this seems like Gohmert is using the media to even some score with Ryan. The real question is can any of then be believed?
At least the RATS stab from the front.
Ryan was never on the side of the citizens and the rule of law.
He has always been a Cheap Labor Express stooge.
That’s why Romney picked him for VP.
This is the GOP's way of throwing the guy under the bus after he has left ... instead of blaming anyone who is still in office.
Re: “President Trump has been continually betrayed by establishment Republicans. Hopefully, he no longer believes them.”
Maybe President Trump should read Free Republic?
Everyone here knows what’s going on.
Ryan probably agreed to wear a wire!
And the Republicans were sure to wait until after the election so nobody wanted to do anything to upset any apple carts. Cowards and traitors all.
“President Trump has been continually betrayed by establishment Republicans.
Hopefully, he no longer believes them. “
He didn’t. The bill passed.
I believe President Trump has ALWAYS been riding close to being impeached by the Republicans.
He’s playing a dangerous game, trying to save these United States for all of us.
God Bless him.
And removed from office
The 25th Amendment would have put that traitor one heartbeat away ...
