Lord God,
So often the world teaches us that we must measure up to the standards of other humans. But that is not what You teach. You teach us that we are to rely totally and completely on You for our worth. Our acceptance is in You. But in addition, You are our strength and our ability and our protection, our righteousness, our joy, our purpose, and our future. You are all we need. You are the Judge of all the earth. You are the One Who makes beauty of ashes. You take the foolish and weak things of the world and use them to confound the wise and mighty. You take the unloved and the humble and use them to bring about blessing. Lord, there is no end to the possibilities that we have in You, for You have wonderful plans for each of us. Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness.
Father, we pray that the America You helped to establish and protect and prosper throughout these 243 years would be the America that returns to You, that repents, and that humbles itself under Your mighty hand once again. We all must repent and seek Your face for the sins of our nation, Father. This task cannot be left solely to faithful prayer warriors. It must involve everyone in this nation. We all must be on our knees---seeking Your face, praying for Your forgiveness, and crying out for Your help in restoring our nation.
Lord, help those who have taken an oath to defend our Constitution. Guide and direct our President and shield him from all those who want to overthrow his presidency. Give him the wisdom and persistence to see that the wall is built and that our borders are protected. Help everyone in our military to have a deeper sense of Your abiding presence. You have graven them upon the palms of Your hands, Lord; their walls are continually before You. Let those who know You share Your plan of salvation with those who are in darkness. Father, we know that You honor every one of our American heroes who are willing to lay down their lives for their fellow man.
Lord, may every believer make the choice to stand up for the unborn. Until we get this basic requirement met, Lord, we will not be able to find Your solutions to the other problems our nation faces. This is where it all begins, Father---with life, and with our respect of You, our Creator. Please open eyes, ears, and hearts to Your truth.
We need You every hour of every day, most precious Lord. Help us to seek You, Lord, in order to find Your answers for our nation. We pray that by faith, we would receive all the blessings that were purchased for us through the atonement, Father, and that Your mercy would be upon us even as we hope in You. O God, for the sake of Your Son Whose Precious Blood was shed for us, help us to return to You. Hear the cries of our broken and contrite hearts, Father, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Good News From United Methodist General Conference
EXCERPT...
In a key United Methodist General Conference vote setting voting priorities for the next three days, delegates preferred the Traditional Plan backed by global evangelicals over the liberalizing One Church Plan backed by most bishops.
The Traditional Plan, which got nearly 56%, reaffirms current United Methodist teaching on marriage as male and female. One Church Plan, which got nearly 49%, would overturn that teaching and compel local congregations to choose their own definition of marriage.
