Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams used to moonlight as a steamy romance novelist. From 2001 to 2009, Abrams produced eight books under the pseudonym Selena Montgomery. She claimed to have sold over 100,000 copies and to have won several awards for her writing. The Federalist posted several steamy passages from Abrams’ work.

If those are the raunchiest excerpts, she isn’t very good at it. The head writer for Harlequin is WAY raunchier, and he’s a seventy-something male economics professor who writes under a female pseudonym.
He’s thinking she’s got the “cards” to play that he doesn’t. Think black, woman, socialist, voter suppression and victim extrordinaire and, if push comes to shove, the jokes about her eating him under the table.
