King County is moving forward with a plan that would use taxpayer money to facilitate efforts to pay bail for low-income people.

“In an effort to advance its commitment to equity, social justice and support the public well-being, King County will be appropriating funds to an organization that remits payment of pretrial bail, with a specific emphasis on indigent individuals,” the request read. “Successful applicants will provide bail for indigent individuals who would otherwise spend their pretrial time in jail, causing undue burden and costs for King County and the individuals.”

The request for proposal does not mention potential safety concerns.

The county should be sued for any harm that results from letting a captured suspect back on the streets. $400,000 sounds like a nice round number for damages.

It ought to be sued right now before the program even starts.

Taxpayers have zero responsibility to provide bail for anyone.

This is the opposite of keeping citizens safe.

#4. It’s Marxist-ruled Washington State, Jake. Forget it. It can’t be saved.

Why don’t they release them with no bail?
Oh, that’s right, the taxpayers can foot that bill.

We pay to have them arrested and it only stands to reason we should pay to have them released. /s

I heard where King County also wants to raise house taxes to cover the late/unreturned book fines to the libraries. Many of the folks that use the library are low income, and it is a hardship for them to pay the fines.

I thought that was really stupid.

Taxes to bail out criminals - that is even stupider.

These are all excellent examples why socialists/leftists should never be put in positions of societal authority over anyone.

Why not just stop fining poor people as opposed to raising taxes on people who have no moral responsibility to pay other peoples fines?

“It’s Marxist-ruled Washington State, Jake. Forget it. It can’t be saved”

True about the Marxist-ruled (mostly), but I disagree with the “can’t be saved”, as the sheriffs in eastern WA state are telling the Marxists to cram their new gun laws, and the same can be expected of similar tyrannical legislation.

With the MarxoDems controlling the governorship, the state legislature and Seattle, they don’t need the rest of the state, and they know it.

When the sane part of the state rises up in rebellion, legislative or armed, or both, then I’ll say it might be saved but until then, it’s “Welcome to Cuba - West”.

Well it won’t take long for 400k to disappear. I can’t imagine that a lot of those released will return to court without their or their families money being on the line. On the upside Mexico might the lack of wall might let them disappear into Mexico :)

And with ZERO skin in the game, I fail to see how there can be any problem getting the accused to show up.

This plan has no problems at all.
