Climate Change Denier Tells Fox & Friends Carbon Dioxide 'Not A Pollution'
Newsweek ^ | April 30, 2019 | By Benjamin Fearnow

A former Republican aide who rejects the scientific community's consensus on climate change said carbon dioxide is not pollution, dredging up a decades-old defense of CO2 emissions in order to write off Beto O'Rourke's newly announced climate plan.

Speaking Tuesday morning with Fox & Friends, the longtime Fox News climate change denier Marc Morano joined host Jedediah Bila in ridiculing the former Texas congressman's $5 trillion climate change proposal.

"First of all, pollution and carbon dioxide, humans, we inhale oxygen and we exhale carbon dioxide, so he's calling CO2 pollution, which it's not," Morano proclaimed Tuesday. "No, this plan is as pie-in-the-sky as the Green New Deal except it's a little bit more tepid."

Fox & Friends co-host Bila labeled O'Rourke's plan "very vague and very nice and very idealistic." But as she listed bullet points of the plan, she derisively dismissed the idea of starting to cut pollution, saying, "whatever that means."

She concluded Americans "won't be so excited" about fighting climate change once they see its effect on their pocketbooks.

Morano, who has appeared on Fox News and other right-leaning international networks for years, frequently refers to climate change or the concept of global warming as "hysteria."

Kind of like one of the earlier "flat earth deniers".

How do you cover objectively when you lable your subject a denier? Denier = heretic?

Back in the 1960s through 1980s, environmentalists focused on actual pollution: foreign substances not naturally found in nature that were released into the environment by people and that were harmful to people, animals and plants.

The only solution was more government control and higher taxes.

Then the Iron Curtain fell and it became undeniably obvious to everyone that the countries with the most government control were toxic cesspools of pollution. In capitalist countries, people own property and want to keep their own property clean. In communist and socialist countries, the government owns most property and the people and government use it as a common dump.

So in the 1990s, environmentalists switched to carbon dioxide, a natural substance that not only is not harmful to life, but is essential to the existence of all life on Earth. Why carbon dioxide? Successful (i.e. capitalist) countries produce more carbon dioxide per person because they produce more of everything per person. Communist and socialist countries produce less of everything including carbon dioxide. By focusing on carbon dioxide instead of actual pollutants, the environmental left can point the finger at capitalism and free markets instead of too much government control.

The only solution is the same, more government control and higher taxes.

I have taken to calling left wing liberals who think that gender is fluid and that there are more than two sexes “Biology Deniers” or “Science Deniers.” It really pisses them off.

Some one should call out Newsweek for minimizing the horror of the Holocaust by using the term “denier”. It remains disgusting to use that word.

you are exactly right... science isn’t done by consensus. there is a specific method they follow. what was it called again? that’s right, the scientific method. no where does it say that a hypothesis becomes a law when 9 out of 10 of your friends agree with you.

I believe the decimal point is off by one place.

By volume, dry air contains 78.09% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.04% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases. Air also contains a variable amount of water vapor, on average around 1% at sea level, and 0.4% over the entire atmosphere.
