If there was a collision we would have received the worse end of it. It’s how the Russians operate. On the other hand the recent accidents on our part gives me no confidence that it can be avoided.

Certainly more to this than the CIC Watch Officer and Officer of the Deck not being on speaking terms. That only happens on US ships.

these provocations will eventually cause an escalation at some point, especially if it results in collisions or a more serious response

**************

Just a matter of time. I hope we’ve figured out how to respond when it does happen. Firing a salvo of vapid words at the Russians will have no effect on them.

Some articles read that it occurred in the Philippine sea.

I don’t see much in the way of smoke from the Russian ship. It looks like they’ve abandoned Bunker Charlie for pure ethanol...

Looks like an Udaloy class. Since the Russian’s put dash cams on EVERYTHING, the proof would be in the vid...

Plus, Russian’s can’t drive.

Hey, the US Navy runs into huge ships all the time. If a Russian ship is near a USN vessel and doesn’t keep clear, what can they expect except a collision?

If you are driving down the highway and see an oncoming drunk driver weaving all over the road, including on your lane, don’t you take evasive action? Russian ships need to look out, like everyone else, when a USN ship is in the neighborhood.

There’s like a billion hungry and horny Chinese sitting just beyond that long border Russia shares with China, and the Russians have nothing better to do than mess around with us?

Guard your pigs!

The Chinese are coming!

In this situation power driven vessels meeting head to head, neither vessel is the “Stand on” vessel. Both are “Burdened” to give way so as to avoid a collision.

Whether we like it or not we are at war with Russia, China, and Iran and it is about time we showed some aggression on our part. War is on the horizon and we cannot stop it.

There are only two types of ships in the Navy, submarines and targets!

The Ruskkis have been playing chicken with the US Navy for decades.

Nothing new.

If it was a head-on situation both are REQUIRED to alter their course to the right to pass port-to-port. (Rule 14) Looking at the prop-wash in a more distant photo. This was a crossing situation, rule 15, where the US vessel had the Russian vessel off their starboard bow. The US vessel is give-way and the US vessel did not. The Russian was following the rules by standing on but broke the rules by not avoiding a collision or near collision with early and substantial action (maneuver) as this turned into a "Shall-May-Shall", last "Shall" situation.

Just a few days after a mid-air confrontation over the Mediterranean Sea made headlines, the two navies are pointing the finger at each other as well.

I don’t understand how this can be happening. The media and democrats (but I repeat myself) have spent the last 2 1/2 years explaining to all of us how PDJT is, in fact, an agent of Russian president Putin.

Maritime law - the vessel on starboard has the right of way?

“Not at all, Russia claimed in a rebuttal. Their ship was on a steady course and it was the Chancellorsville that swerved unprofessionally:”

If you watch the Russians’ wake it is clear that they turned toward the US ship.
